Still Michael's P.O.V.

"What? No..." I hissed turning to her, I squinted to try and make out even a little bit of her face in the pitch blackness. It worried me when she was hurt, naturally, but I felt some kind of...desire, or righteous manner to tend to her...whether it was to do with the age gap between us or her child like attitude, but I couldn't help but feel paternal.

It was no use, I'd have to wait until we were back onto the street lamp lit path to see the damage I had caused, I felt extremely guilty, but we couldn't go anywhere until these people were way out of the way.

"Umm...okay hang on, I'll be able to sort you out in no time, just let me see where these people are".

I stood up from the behind the safety of the tree, "Stay there..." I whispered.

I peered around the tree trunk, I could see the path but no people...I ventured out and took a few steps towards, listening carefully.

I could still hear voices but I couldn't see anyone, I dared to walk out onto the path itself, to explore the surroundings.

I stepped out, spinning around and looking everywhere, I stared down the way we had just previously been, but...all at once I heard footsteps behind me, I froze...not daring to turn around, dreading what would happen if I did, then I heard a male voice, directed at me, "Hey man? You got a light?"
