My tummy grumbled, I hadn't had food in a week, it's been two days since my water ran out. Luckily, I'm almost in the city, maybe someone will give me some scraps? Maybe even a blanket so I can settle on a bench or something before midnight. It's hopeless, I'm going to die of thirst in the next day. I wanted to sprint, but I didn't have the energy, I wanted to get to the city as soon as possible, I don't think I'll survive the night without food. Finally, after long dreadful walks, I saw the lamp post next to the street of cars and jumped for joy. Crossing the street carefully, someone spotted me, I waved and they heard my tummy grumble.
They shook their head and walked inside." Real friendly." I mumbled.
A police car drove by.
"Excuse me, where are your parents?" The cop said, pulling over and rolling down the window . "Um, I don't have any anymore." I stammer, my tummy grumbling. "Really? Well do you want me to take you to an orphanage? There's one down the street." I shook my head, I didn't wanna have that problem, no, I wasn't going too. "I'm fine" I said, turning around and heading to a big house, maybe they'll have something to spare. The cop raised his eyebrows, but shrugged and drove off.
Sleepily, I drug myself to the porch, gathering the strength to knock on the mahogany door.
I plopped on the concrete. Sitting down on the welcome mat. "Who would knock at 10:30 at night? I hear a man say." I'll answer it." A lady says, I hear a lock click and the creak of the door opening, a blonde girl with a skinny pale face and pink lips walked out. "Oh my goodness! You poor thing. Here come in come in." She says, taking my hand. As I walk in, I see a little kitten curled up on a pillow, playing with a bell.
The kitten was puffy and white, and had a tiny pink nose.
"That's Cloud, don't mind him." She said giggling. "Who was there, Jen?" Said a bulky boy with black hair and a muscle shirt on.
"This nice young lady right here, and what's your name dear?" The lady named Jen said. "Um, uh it's uh, um, Alexandra, but , um, most people, call me um, Alex." I say, my tummy grumbles, and I crossed my arms to muffle it. "Oh right! Pat get Alex something to eat please."
Jen says. "Um, if u don't mind, can I have some water? I haven't had water in two days and food in a week. "Really? Oh you poor thing. Of course you can have some food and water." She said. Pat came back with a glass of water and an apple with a bowl of strawberries. "Thanks so much, so so so much" I say. Pat and Jen grins,
"No problem." Pat says, taking a strawberry from their fridge and plopping it in his mouth. I took a long refreshing drink of water, my throat doesn't feel dry any more. I took a huge bite of the apple and stuck a strawberry in my mouth. "Slow down Alex you'll choke." Jen said laughing. Pat chuckled, eating another strawberry from his fridge. "Hey Alex, I'm gonna heat up some hotdogs you want one." Pat said with a mouth full of fruit. I nodded, finishing my last strawberry and picked my apple back up.
"Ok, what do you want on it?" He asks, I shrugged and said. "Cheese I guess. Thanks." I say. I felt refreshed.
My tummy was satisfied, my throat was feeling right, I didn't feel like throwing up, I didn't feel dehydrated.
Thanks to Pat and Jen. I turned my head, noticing to computers side by side. The puffy white kitten cloud was cuddled up on the sofa in the center of the big living room. "You people have a really nice house." I say. Jen smiled. "Thank you." She said. "Pat, while the hotdogs are heating up can I talk to you in the other room please? Alex please stay here." Jen said, I nodded, brushing my ratted black hair out of my face.
They walked out of the room.
I turned around looking at Cloud. He was turned over on his back playing with his bell.
I giggled. I could hear faint whispers from the hall, but I didn't wanna be rude so I didn't ease drop.
Pat and Jen came back into the kitchen. Pat walked to the cooking hotdogs and took them out onto separate plates. Pat put grated cheese on my hotdog and sat it down in front of me. "Thanks." I say, taking another gulp of water and stuffing the hotdog in my mouth. "Thanks so much. You know, it's really late. I should probably go." I say disappointingly. "Actually Alex. I have a question for you." Jen says, just realizing how skinny I was. I nodded. "Ok, I guess." I say, scratching the back of my head.
"Would you like to stay?" Jen said, Pat smiled, and I stared in shock. "Seriously? Really? Like stay the night?" I ask, a smile crossing my face.
"No, Alex. Stay." Jen says smiling. "Are you- sure?" I ask. Jen nods. "Yes! Thanks so much." I say.
Jen smiles bigger. "Ok then, would you like anything else to eat?" Jen asks, I shake my head and take another drink of water. Pat takes my glass and takes it to the sink. "How old are you?" He asks, refilling my water and sets it down in front of me. "I'm 6." I say. Taking a nice cold drink of water. "How long have you been separated from your parents?" Jen asks. "My Daddy died in a car crash 2 years ago, and my mommy died of cancer a couple months after, I've been separated for 3 months." I say. Putting my water down. "Oh, um. I'm really sorry bout that. I shouldn't have asked." She says. I shrugged. "It was two years ago, I'm over it," I say, fighting back tears. But I put a smile back on my face. "How about we get you cleaned up." She says, I nod. I looked down. I had a dark brown t-shirt that was torn up and muddy. I had grey sweats that were ripped and dirty. My sunburned skin was muddy and scarred. My old shoes had ripped shoelaces and my shoes were a size two small.

"C'mon. Let's get you a bath going Alex." Jen says, Pat takes a bite of his hotdog. "Come here Cloud." Pat says. The kitten comes up to him and Pat picks him up. Jen takes my hand and leads me down the hall to a large bathroom. "Your home is a palace!" I exclaim, it was beautiful.
"Now it's your home too." Jen says. Starting to turn on the notches to the water. Water started spewing out the spout at the top of the bathtub. It made me jump, crashing into Jen. Jen stumbled, laughing and grabbing the towel rack. "Been quite a while since you've took a shower!?" Jen asked sillily, tickling my waist. I giggled. "Take your clothes off and get in the shower, tell me when your ready and I'll come and get your clothes to wash.
"Okay? Okay." (Quick A/N that is from the FIOS, if you are a proud part of the FIOS please vote! And leave a comment if you know what that is!)
I nodded. Jen walked out of the room. I sighed, fingering my burns and scars, wincing in pain. I sighed, slipping off my tenni-shoes. I carefully slipped out of my sweats, dried blood staining the outsides. I pulled my brown shirt over my head, setting it with the rest of my piled clothes gathered on the floor, I slipped off my underwear, pulling it off of my skinny and scarred legs.
I carefully stepped into the shower, warm water washing over me, The water tickled the top of my toes, making me giggle a bit. There was a small rack next to me, it had a bar of soap, with the words Dove imprinted on top of the soap. There was a bottle titled Conditioner. One titled Shampoo. And another titled as Moisturizer.
I yelled for Jen, telling her I was ready for her to take my clothes off the floor.
