Chapter 2

I snap awake, breathing heavenly. I scream out "Mommy no!" And Jen rushes in the room where I slept. "Alex! What's wrong?" She yells, rubbing her eyes from sleep. I wheeze, wiping my palms on the night gown Jen have me to sleep in. "S- sorry, I had a bad dream." I stutter. She sits on the end of the bed. "Oh Alex, there is nothing to be sorry about. It's not your fault you had a bad dream." She says, patting my leg.
She gives me a warm smile. "Besides, you didn't wake me up, it's 9:30 you lazy butt!" She says poking my arm playfully. I giggle and say. "I guess I haven't had much sleep in a while." I say with a shrug. "You can go back to sleep if you want." She says. "Nah, don't think I could if I tried." I snort, she laughs. "Well come get some breakfast then!" She says, I nod and follow her into the kitchen.

"Well look who it is." Pat says as I walk into the kitchen as he flips a pancake. "Rise and shine, hope you like pancakes." I smile and nod. He fumbles with another pancake then starts flipping them again. I sit on the stool to the bar as Jen walks to the fridge. "Want some orange juice?" Jen says, she plops a green apple into her mouth and pulls out a canister of orange liquid. "Nah, never liked it." I say, Jen miss. "How bout some chocco- milk?" Jen says chewing a mouthful of fruit. Pat chuckles and Jen playfully pokes him in the side. I grin and nod. "Yes please!" I say sweetly. "So, last night did a bit of research after y'all went to bed. Turns out Alex was in the orphanage for a year, told the person who ran the place we found her, and she sent over some papers. So we just need to email the signed papers to her and we have officially adopted her!" Pat says to Jen putting the pancakes on separate plates. Jen sets the chocolate milk in front of me and replies, "Really? That's cool. You didn't tell us you were ever in an orphanage Alex." She says, pulling me into the conversation. "W- well." I stutter. Reluctant to explain. "Hey, you don't wanna talk about it, that's fine. But I just want you to know you can tell us anything." Jen says. (A/N know that's really cheezy, but cmon, it's Jen.) "I know, I was, j- just afraid they would get m- mad at me for l- leaving and would c- call the cops to make me go back." I sniff, Jen comes over as Pat scrambled the eggs. "Hey, it's fine! By tomorrow we'll be officially your parents!" She says, brushing my hair out of my eyes. She made me feel better. She gives me a silly look. "Besides, I think orphanages are just so SPOOKAY!" She emphasis the last word. Pat burst out laughing. I shot up from my seat. "That's where I recognize you from! You are popularmmos! I used to watch you all the time!" I say. Jen laughs. "Great. Another crazy fan!" She holds, tickling my stomach. I giggle, Pat's still laughing really hard, Jen laughs, "Honey stop you'll spit in the food." Jen says, putting both hands on his left shoulder to balance. "You're gonna make me drop it all, placing a plate in front of me and sitting next to Jen whose already sitting next to me at the bar. She grabs my hand and uses the other one to clapse Pat's hand. I was confused until Jen asks me, "Do you want to say the blessing, Alex?" I nod and bow my head.
Dear Lord-
Thank you for this day
And everything you have given us father.
And Lord take this food to the nurishment of my body and my body to thy service.
And Jesus name I pray.
Amen.

I ended the prayer to see Jen's face. She was on the verge of tears. They looked like happy tears. "That was beautiful, Alex." Pat said. "Thanks!" I say. I happily take a bite of my bacon, Jen digs into her scrambled eggs. "So I was thinking we can go to the beach later?" Pat says. I look at Jen hopefully. She grins at me, "I don't see why not." She says. I almost punch the air. "Yes!" I say. "Thanks so much mommy!" Before I could stop myself it pops out of my mouth. Before I can correct myself Jen jumps of the stool and puts both hands in the air. "You owe me 10 bucks hun!" Jen says to Pat, pointing her finger at Pat. He rolls his eyes and puts a pile of paper on her hand, followed by a 'WHOOP whoop!' I laugh. "You can call me whatever you want, Alex. I'm not making fun of you but Daddy made the mistake of throwing a bet on the table." She says, climbing back onto the stool. I grin, "You guys are just more family then I've ever had, cause even when my parents were around they never really were around, ya know?" I say, they both nod, the rest of breakfast was filled with jokes.

*Time skip- after breakfast-*

Mommy walks in the room they gave me. "I ordered some stuff to decorate your
room. We'll go shopping before the beach, we'll change then head straight there. Sound good?" She states. "Yeah! Can't wait!" I say, bouncing up and down. She laughs, she picks me and I wrap my legs around her waste. She runs down the stairs, Daddy is cuddling with Cloud. He gives us a weird look. "Daddy!" I yell. "Quite and entrance." he says. I laugh and Mommy drops me on the couch next to Daddy. Cloud wanders on my lap and Daddy fake whines, "Awww Cloudy!" He says, pouting. "I stole your cuddle partner!" I say. Jen laughs. "Once the outfit I ordered with your room stuff gets here well get ready. Then we'll hit the road!" Mommy says. I pop up and start to sing. "Hit the road Jack! And don't you come back no more no more no more no more!" Mommy gasps. I stop. "W- what is it.?" I stutter. I guess she doesn't like me singing. "That was wonderful!" Mommy says, tears in her eyes. Happy tears to my relief. "Well I can dance too. I'm not that good." I shrug. Mommy looks at me. "Show us!!!" She says with excitement. I nod and turn on the song Better When I'm Dancing by Meghan Trainor. I did a small dance the ended it with a back aeriel and landed with a back tuck then splits. Daddy gets up and hugs me. "We are definitely putting you in gymnastics." Daddy says. I lunch the air. "Yay!" Then I hear mommy say, "Yay finally your clothes are here!"
