♢ Laura ♢

I heard a light knock on the door. That must be the nurse with my food. I shuffled to the door with my blanket wrapped around me, feeling very much like a fajita.

I nearly fell over when I saw Ryan standing outside my cabin with a tray of food. His face full of guilt after what he said to me earlier.
"Uh, hi..." I managed to say, my heart fluttering a little.

He looked me up and down and smirked with amusement at my wrapped up state. I gave him a small scowl once my heart had calmed down from his unexpected presence. He smiled and walked round me and into the cabin. I shut the door behind us.

"Hey! I thought you were the one who told me to stay away from you... and now YOU are the one in my cabin bringing me food!" I voiced in confusion. He set the tray down on my bed and turned to face me.
"You deserve an explanation, I shouldn't have got mad at you." He sat on my bed next to the tray of food and fiddled with his camp bracelet.

"I'm glad you've realised that I do!" I moaned at him.
"That's why I'm here Laura." He said plainly. "Please eat some dinner." He pointed to the tray next to him. After his lecture earlier I gave in and got back into my bed and reached for the tray at the end of the bed. I removed the metal cover from the plate and found a small bowl of pasta, two slices of pizza and some garlic bread. My stomach grumbled in response so I dug into the pasta.

"Are you going to give me my explanation or are you just going to watch me stuff my face?" I asked with a smile between my forkfuls of pasta. He gave me a grin in return before lowering his head back to his hand fiddling with his bracelet again.

"I'm going to wait until you are finished." He returned his deep gaze back towards me, right into my eyes. I couldn't help but stare back at him.
"Fine, stop looking at me though. You're putting me off." I smirked at him.
"I can't help it." He seemed to blush a little. Was he embarrassed?

I finished the last piece of garlic bread and moved the tray to the chest of drawers near my bed.
"Happy now?" I asked with a cheeky smile as I got back into my bed.
"Very. How's your head?" He asked studying my bandage.
"My heads fine, it's my butt that hurts!" I blurted at him.

I could tell he was trying to keep a straight face but it was no use, he burst into a fit of laughter and I quickly joined him. "I'm really sorry about that." He tried to say it seriously but he couldn't hide the toothy grin on his face.

"No you're not, don't be a dick!" I said playfully and threw a pillow at him. We both started laughing again. "I'm not!" He pleaded with a smile as he laid the pillow on his lap. "I am sorry though, seriously." He said plainly.
"You are forgiven." I replied with a smile. "Can I have my explanation now?" I asked curiously.
"Oh. Right. Yeah." My reminder seemed to dull his tone.

"Well..." I encouraged him.
"I want to explain why I reacted the way I did towards you." He said, making eye contact with me and then looking down at the pillow again. I let him continue.

"How the hell do I explain this to you!" Ryan groaned, pinching the bridge of his nose and screwing his eyes shut.

"Do you remember when Lacey from our school died in that Horse riding accident?" He suddenly asked and saying that seemed to make his voice crack.

"Um, yeah, I helped her out when she joined the school in year seven. What has that got to do with this?" I frowned at him. He ignored my question.
