"Is the blind fold really necessary?"
"Of course it is." Rachel and Katie laughed as they lead me to an unknown destination. They steered me around campus by linking arms with me.I rolled my eyes, even though they couldn't see it.
People whispered around me when we came to a sudden halt. The terrain beneath my feet felt uneven and soft. I knew exactly where we were.
The blindfold was torn away from my face to reveal a small gathering of people at the lake side, balloons were tied up everywhere and there was now some music being played near the camp fire.
The next thing, or shall I say, person, my eyes landed on was Ryan. He was slowly approaching me, coming away from a table with presents on it.
"Happy Birthday, Gorgeous." He said with a smirk before putting his arm around my neck and kissing me quickly. If I wasn't speechless before, I definitely was now.
His public affection received a few 'ooh's' and whistles from the people around us. Looking back at the people who were here, I knew most of them but there were a few that I didn't recognise, I assume they were either here for a party or they somehow knew my friends.
"Um, wow, thank you." I gasped, finally finding my voice. "This is amazing, you guys are the best." I smiled once more and greeted my friends.
"Don't thank us, Ryan did most of it." Katie exclaimed. I turned towards Ryan who was looking pretty sheepish, he blushed slightly and my heart melted."You did all this?" I asked, walking towards him and gesturing for a hug.
"Maybe..." He hesitated with a small laugh, pulling me towards him in his embrace. "I had to do something for you, and I was bored while you were at the spa so I think I went a bit over the top with the balloons." He looked embarrassed and it was the cutest thing ever."It's not over the top, its perfect. I can't thank you enough." I leaned into him and held onto his back. This was definitely my safe place.
"Well, that's a relief, do you want your presents now or later?" He winked at me, emphasising his euphemism. I playfully swatted his arm.
"Rude... Hold on, you bought me presents?" I asked, scowling at him."Well... Yeah, of course I have!" He looked at me all confused. "Why wouldn't I?"
I stuttered. "I- um- I don't know. I just didn't expect it to be honest." My cheeks turned to their famous tomato colour.
