"Sorry I haven't spoken to you since you came out of hospital, a-a lot has been going on." My sister spoke with a sigh. I was surprised to hear from her again.
I instantly noticed the exhaustion in her tone.
"What's been going on?" I asked, wincing a little in preparation for the answer. She took a noticeably deep breath over the phone before speaking.
"Well, I told mum and dad about the baby.""And?"
"They flipped out, went fucking nuts. Gave me the whole lecture I was expecting, but when I told them that I was happy and that it's what I want, they shut up and accepted it. We weren't on the best terms for the first week but they came over the other day and apologised, it's all good now and I'm glad because this morning sickness is doing my head in."
"Oh good, I'm glad that's been sorted, I knew they would react that way and I'm glad you knew that too. It would have made the whole situation worse if you weren't expecting them to get angry. I'm happy that everything is settled and that you are getting used to being pregnant."
"Thank you, Laura, there was something else that mum mentioned to me the other day that confused me."
I raised an eyebrow, although I let it down again when I realised my sister couldn't see me. "What's that then?"
"She said Jane's mother came and spoke to her at work, telling her to teach you a lesson. Apparently you had been bullying her at camp so she was forced to leave an-"
"BULLSHIT!" I screeched at what my sister was telling me, standing up from my bed in shock."Exactly. I don't think mum realised at the time that Jane was the one who put you in hospital. When I told her, she went mad again and wanted to go and give Jane's mum a piece of her mind. I stopped her in her tracks before she opened a can of worms that nobody would ever want to open."
"Oh." Anger bubbled inside of me, Jane was still causing trouble and she was now interfering with my family. "I wish Jane and her bitch of a mother would keep their mouths shut, until the court hearing at least."
"Mum has promised to steer clear of them from now on. She even knows which supermarkets to avoid." Eliza breathed a small giggle down the phone.
Our conversation was cut short when I heard a 'I'm home!' echo from the background at Eliza's house.
"Tom's back, I guess I better go, I'll see you when your back! Have an amazing party. I love you chick!""Okay, say hello to Tom for me, I love you too!" I smiled and ended the call, dropping my phone onto my bed.
Almost on cue, the cabin door opened and Ryan walked in. He was carrying a plate of what looked like pancakes and his face instantly lit up when seeing me.
"Goooood morning beautiful!" He sang and placed the plate on my bedside table. He was noticeably happy today.
"Someone's happy!" I pointed out, putting on a smile. "Any particular reason?"
"There's no reason to be glum so I'm being happy instead." Ryan grinned even more and sat down on my bed, tugging my arm to get me to sit next to him. I gave in easily and slumped down next to him.
Ryan grabbed the plate of food again and nudged it towards me.
"Not hungry." I spoke and avoided his eye contact. My comment received a raised eyebrow and I knew I didn't stand a chance against him. "Fine." I spoke and took the plate from him, taking a small piece of pancake and eating it.
