Chapter 10

The next day I woke up cozy in my bed at around 9:30 am. Today was a Professional Development day so there was no school. I unlocked my phone to see a cute good morning text from Michael. We had previously planned on hanging out with Luke, Ashton and Calum today but not until around 12:30. I got out of bed and hopped down the stairs. I was in a great mood this morning probably due to the amazing night I had with Michael. I got a huge wiff of pancakes and bacon. My parents were off today and were in the kitchen cooking breakfast. My dad was making the bacon and my mom was stirring the pancake batter.

“Morning!” I sang. They both looked at each other raising their eyebrows.

“What’s with you this morning?” My dad asked, flipping the bacon.

“Michael asked me to be his girlfriend last night!” I said excitedly smelling the tulips on the dining table. My mother looked ecstatic.

“Oh darling he must come over for dinner so we can meet him properly! How about Friday? I can make my famous casserole! I have to go shopping for ingredients!” She frantically started writing a shopping list. I laughed at her excitement for something so small.

“Sure I’ll ask him but that’s like four days away you’ve got time.” I smiled. My dad gave me his strict father look.

“Well be careful Payton I know how teenage boys are. I was one once…” He started his speech that I’ve heard many times before. I tuned him out and smiled down at the flowers. When he was done with his boyfriend speech I made my way to the living room where Collin was watching cartoons in his pyjamas.

“Morning bro.” I said sitting down next to him. We watched cartoons together for the next half hour until breakfast was ready. It was kinda brunch now that it was 10 though. We sat at the table and dug in on the pancakes and bacon. I washed it all down with a cold glass of orange juice and wondered why the hell I’m not fat considering the amount I eat. I guess it’s because I do workout several times a week but still.. I eat like a horse! After lunch Collin and I did the dishes. It ended in a soap bubble fight. Yeah we’re immature. I was covered by white foam so I decided I should shower. I went into my bathroom and after a long shower I hopped out and got dressed for hanging out with the boys. Today was pretty sunny so I decided on a high waisted, tribal print, tight skirt, and a dark blue cropped lace shirt with long sleeves leaving a small section of my midriff showing. I wore light blue flats and a cute double fingered bow ring.

I did my makeup and decide to let my hair dry naturally since I had just over an hour until I had to leave. I put it up in a really absorbent hair towel thingy so it will dry faster. Since I had so much time I decided to read my book I had to do for english class. I sat on my bed reading until 12 then blow dried the rest of my hair that wasn’t dry yet and styled it into loose curls. I was ready by 12:30 when Michael texted me to tell me he was coming to get me. I grabbed my phone and went downstairs. Michael came to the door and I introduced him to my parents quickly. It was just a coincidence that every time Michael came to pick me up my parents were either not home or busy so they hadn’t met him until now. Michael was super polite and shook both my parents hand. I told them we had to go so they didn’t embarrass me too much, we’ll leave the embarrassment until Friday. It wasn’t really a lie though, we were running a bit late. When we walked outside I realized he still had his uncle’s truck and not his motorcycle. He must’ve seen my confusion.

“He sold it to me.” Michael smiled. I realized it’s a good thing he had because I was wearing a skirt and that wouldn’t work out too well on his motorcycle.
