Its been a week already since I force handed in my notice and the boss has been a no show.
I've had no luck with the job hunting either. In this tough market my ten over years of work experience made no difference at all.
But I was unwilling to crawl back on my knees and beg for my termination notice back. No, the decision to leave was a right one and a two weeks notice just meant I'd have more time for a holiday after and before I start a new position elsewhere.
I would go to my sisters for a duration and sublease out my appartment here. That would take care of the rent. My sister, Patty had kids and she would appreciate the help with them. Her husband Greg was a mellow sort so he would be happy to have me there as well I was sure.
I could survive on my savings for a good stretch then and will not see the need to either rush into the first role that came available or beg Eric for my old job back.
An action plan in place, I was feeling better and was almost eager for my looming break. Just a week more to go and I would be free. Free! I chanted to myself in my head as I went about the routines for the day. I could not wait to see my nephew and nieces. I was sure they've grown mile since I last saw them at Chrismas last year.
I put in a call to Patty and was just finishing off discussing my plans with her when I became aware of the presence of another. I turned sharply as I replaced the receiver to note Eric standing by the connecting door to his office looking right at me.
'So! You are going to turn in my high paying job for a no pay baby sitting post,' he mummered sarcastically.
