I watched him leave to get a head start on the milking and then hurried over my own toiletries. I snuck back into my room encountering no one in my way. Nicky was still asleep and apparently so was Eric.
I dressed in casual jeans cut-offs and a loose fitting t before tying my hair up in a top knot. The heat was already beating hard on the near draught ridden landscape. Rains there were a plenty but the damn drizzle didn't do much by way of actually watering the land. Dry hay could be seen in the distance. Those uncut and those already in rolled stacks. I kept my gaze as always trained on the terrain as I worked silently around the kitchen preparing the morning meal. Breakfast was sometimes the heaviest meal of the day. Today was just such a day.
I started off preparing the pancake batter, then set the bacon to crisp in the oven before beating up a batch of eggs and setting a new pot of coffee to boil. Jace had put on the coffee before he left but the two cuppa that produced did nothing to fill the bellies of our needy guests today.
Jace walked back in an hour later and after washing up settled down to eat with me. We were well into our second toast before Eric walked in. Bare chested with the abs to rival Jace, he strode in as if he owned the place.
I watched him fill a glass of water and down it in a couple of gulps before he turned to face me.
Ignoring Jace and any need to display manners, all Eric said to me was," Go pack your bags, we leave within the hour."
