Selin put her hood on her head, she blew on her hands. She didn't expect it to be as cold as it was at nine pm.

"Hey." Selin pressed the phone to her ear. "Hi, are you okay?" The reciever asked. "No, I know this is asking a lot of you but could I crash at your place for the night?" Selin whispered. "Sel, where are you?" The person asked. "I'm at the bus stop by my house, Bria,it's so cold." Selin's teeth chattered together. "Stay there, I'm coming to get you, okay? Don't move." The person said. "I'm being serious, stay there, I'm coming to get you."

"Okay." Selin managed to say before the phone cut off. She let out a sigh, Brianna was the twelfth phone call she had made that night.

A honking car horn scared Selin out of her thoughts. "Bria, you scared the shit out of me!" Selin put a hand over her heart. "Jump in biatch!" Brianna beeped the horn of her mother's BMW i8 again.

"Your mum let you take it out?" Selin asked as she admired the inside of the vehicle. "Not exactly." Brianna laughed. "I took her keys, what she doesn't know won't hurt her." With that, Brianna pressed on the accelerator and drove off.

"Are you sure she won't mind?" Selin bit her lip like she always did when she was worried or nervous. "My mum likes you more than she likes me, sometimes I think she wants to adopt you." Brianna chuckled.

"If only that were true." Selin sighed. "What happened this time?" Brianna asked. "She's gotten worse, a lot worse. Bria she blames me for everything, she says I'm the reason she is how she is and I'm starting to believe her." Selin wiped away a stay tear.

"It's not your fault, she's been an alcoholic for years." Brianna rubbed Selin's shoulder while keeping her eyes on the road ahead. "It's not just that, she's bringing strangers home more and more, she's smoking more and look at what I found in her room last week!" Selin pulled out her phone and showed Brianna a picture.

"What is all that?" Brianna squinted at the picture before looking back at the road. "It's drugs Bria, drugs." Selin looked disgusted. "I don't know what I'm going to do but I'm not going to go home and watch her kill herself slowly,I can't." Selin shook her head.

"My plan is to get a job so then I can get some money and then, I don't know, I might just stay in a motel for a little while." Selin shrugged as Brianna pulled up outside her house.

"When I open the door say your hello's and then wait for me upstairs." Brianna instructed. Selin nodded her head and jumped out of the car.

"Brianna Camila Bonita Araya! Dònde has estado?" An older Hispanic version of Brianna came out of the kitchen. "What she means to say is why didn't you tell us you were leaving?" Her father stood next his wife. "Lo siento, lo siento." Brianna bowed her head.

"I was getting Selin." Brianna gestured to the quiet girl by her side. "Why didn't you say so!" Her mother smiled. "Hola Mrs Araya, hello Mr Araya." Selin smiled. "Call me Yahaira." Brianna's mother smiled.

"Alright Selin, go to my room." Brianna nodded, Selin ran in to Brianna's room.

"Madre, padre, I need you to help me, well, Selin out." Brianna looked down. "Talk, now." Her father ordered. "Her mother is going through a rough time." Brianna sighed. "Is it the alcohol again?" Yahaira asked, Brianna nodded her head

"Pobre nina." Yahaira shook her head. "Call her out here." Yahaira said, Brianna walked in to her bedroom and came back out with Selin. "Mi casa es su casa,do you know what that means?" Yahaira smiled. "No ma'am." Selin shook her head.

"It means my house is your house, you're staying here until you have to leave."
