Chapter Six: Dinner... Unless you’re Royalty!
The car ride back to the palace was sweet and silent, Philip drove us again and it made me feel a little more comfortable and when we finally got to the castle the sun was almost down so Edryn and I rushed in to get changed and get ready for dinner. Now we’re lying on his bed... fully clothed I must add and my finger is tracing his chest.
“Ow.” Edryn feigns the pain and I kiss him lightly, “Two minutes until everyone is seated at the table, shall we go?” He sits up and I follow accordingly, “Mum likes asking questions, to a point where she wants to know a major flaw you have.” He notes as he hops off his bed.
I fix my hair and sigh, “Should I seem perfect then?”
He kisses my forehead again and grins, “No, be yourself… It’ll do more good than harm.” He walks out and leaves the door open for me. I look at the closet and open a door, “What are you doing?” He looks in my direction and catches me fixing my hair while staring at the mirror, “Oh, you’re being a girl.”
I turn and poke my tongue out playfully, “I am a girl.”
Edryn smiles and after a few seconds we leave the bedroom, “Do you have to sleep in the same bed as me now?” I ask as we walk, it’s not that I did not mind that he might be... but the idea of a boy sleeping next to me seems slightly odd since he is the Prince, you would think that the Queen laid some ground rules... regarding women anyway.
He takes a moment to answer, to be honest I reckon it’s an awkward question. “That is something that is going to be discussed over dinner.” He answers and I pout to myself, “But if it goes the way I want it to go... We’ll share the same bed.” I blush and he hugs me over the side, “Azure.” He grabs my hand and whips me around, “Are you alright?” He caresses my cheek and I sigh and he kisses me lightly. “For good luck.” He fiddles with the door knob not breaking eye contact with me.
He holds the door open and I walk in, Arctic greets me with a smile and is sitting next to Carlin and Courtney. I stop and turn to see Edryn hold my hand as if out of habit, “Mother is going to be three minutes late.” Arctic notifies and Edryn pulls out a chair for me next to Carlin and I sit next to him willingly he smiles at me and I grin back at him.
Edryn sits next to me and Arctic stares at me like I’m his personal amusement, “Darling Azure, how was the date?”
Edryn stiffens and I fiddle with the knives and forks, “It was a dream.”
Arctic turns away as Courtney tugs on his t-shirt, the door opens and Princess Marie walks through. She looks simply stunning, well she has to being the mother of three very attractive male specimens. She had her blonde locks messily tied into bun and a golden dress that stopped at her knee-caps flowingly. “Hello.” She greets and sits down in front of Arctic, everyone nods to acknowledge her presence. “Courtney did you enjoy your little pedicure?” She smiles and I glance at Edryn who looks at me with a reassuring smile.
Carlin smiles and leans forward, “Mother?” The older woman smiles to her son, “What’s for dinner?”
Marie fiddles with her food, “It’s simply salad... in case our new family member was allergic to anything.” She glances at me with a friendly smile, “Azure, you must be tired.” Edryn runs his hand to mine and holds it, hiding his smile.
I shrug, “I’m fine... it’s all a little too fast but I’m fine with that.” I smile in reply, “It’s all been very welcoming.” She gives me an even lighter smile and it makes me feel more welcome to be here.
Edryn caresses my hand soothingly, though I am wondering he is worrying... I glance to the side and Arctic is staring at Courtney and Carlin is awkwardly looking around, “Azure, did you happen to try on all the gowns yet? I was so excited to hear that Edryn found a pretty girlfriend I got carried away and bought two gowns that I’m dying to see you wear.” I tilt my head to the side, that is sweet... my mother usually bought me gifts, but Marie and I only just met and she bought me dresses... without my permission, “We contacted your workplace in your place, we revealed that you moved away.” I cut back to reality, I just forgot that I worked... checkout chick supervisor, nothing too bad... “Also, your parents will be visiting tomorrow... along with a friend called Natalie?” Marie looks at me confusingly.
