Chapter Nine
I slam the door shut and turn to him in shock, “Didn’t you know? The two are secretly seeing each other.” Devin forms his lips in a thin line, “You didn’t know-“ I cut him off and fold my arms furious.
“What else are you idiots going to throw at me?!” I whisper to myself, “Do you have some evil devil secret?”
Devin shakes his head innocently, “Milady, I didn’t know... that you didn’t know.”
I scoff and furrow my eyebrows and look away, it’s not Devin’s fault... He thought I knew... I can’t be mad at him... I have no right. “It’s fine...” I sigh and pat his white shirt, “Listen, go to bed... I’m a little tired maybe that’s why I’m a little mad... tomorrow I’ll be chirping again.” I smile at him half-heartily.
He bows and kisses my hand again, “I’m still going to apologize. Goodnight Milady.” He turns and walks away.
“CALL ME AZURE.” I yell and he’s already out of view. I sigh and turn and open the door, the sight of Edryn shirtless fills my vision. His eyes are squinting from the sudden awakening, “Oh.” I whisper and Edryn yawns cutely, I lightly close the door and hold his hand.
“I heard a bang.” He groggily says as I help him to the bed, “Is everything alright?” He rests on his elbows and stares at me tiredly.
“Everything is fine.” I take off my shoes and kiss Edryn as he fully lies down on the bed, “Go to sleep, I’m going to get changed.”
He groans and I smile at the cute sight, he’s wearing long sweat-like pants and his hair is messy and he’s sprawled all over the bed. I stand at inside the closet, the only source of light is now the delicate light bulb above my head. I search through the drawers for some sort of sleepwear, my eyes widen at the sight of sleepwear... Carlin... I take out the lacy practically see-through pyjamas that looked like swimming gear. “Carlin!” I hiss and shove them into the drawer and sigh, “I thought he more mature than that.” I turn and close the closet door and continue searching.
After a few excruciating and embarrassing minutes, I walk out in board shorts and a thin strap shirt that I found in the back of the closet. I crawl over the bed and lie down, I turn on my side and stare at Edryn’s peaceful sleeping face. “Get to sleep.” He mutters and opens one eye with a cute smirk, “What’s up?” He caresses my arm and I blush at him but refuse to answer, “That wasn’t an accidental loud door slam.” He states and kisses my forehead.
I hide under the blankets, “I just got a little angry...” I admit.
Edryn cocks an eyebrow, “At who?” He doesn’t break eye-contact and I start to squirm... I didn’t want to bag out Devin... he seems nice.
“Carlin, turns out something on the letter set me on edge.”
Edryn narrows his eyes in disbelief, “Azure.” He whispers and I sigh... I can’t lie to him.
I lie on my back and Edryn looms over me, “Devin told me something.”
He tilts his head to the side, “Okay.” He lies down and the lights turn off on their own.
I sit back up, “Aren’t you going to ask what we were arguing about?”
I didn’t any movement, “I only asked who you were angry at. I got my answer...” He states and I lie down slightly relieved. “Do you want a prying boyfriend?”
His question hits me for a minute, “No. Thank you... Edryn.”
“No worries.” He kisses my forehead goodnight and I close my eyes finally going to sleep.
