The tall grass in the fields blow in the light breeze that runs through the trees, its playful hands making my dress fly behind me as my legs clumsily run through the hills. The birds chirping in the early morning, their songs filling the forest with the beautiful song they have been taught their whole life's.

"Little rabbit!" his deep voice calls for me and I hold in my laughter as I duck behind a fallen tree, my dress pulled up to my chest so that I cant be seen.

As if the world stops, the breeze dies and the birds fly away, leaving the forest in a iry silence. The only sound is the beating of my heart beat in my ears.

As I am about to peek over the stump, I am pulled back down and I let out a scream; but a rough hand covers my mouth. "Shhh." his hot breath tickles my earlobe, "Follow me." uncovering my mouth, he grabs my hand and starts leading me further into the forest.

"where in the world are you taken me know mister?" I say with humor, my free hand lifting my dress as we step over a fallen tree.

"You'll see my little rabbit, you'll see." His voice is deep and rich, making my heart do a flip.

Further and further we travel into the forest, the sun peeking through the branches of the trees overhead, my eyes taking everything in, a deep laugh brings me back and I look a head of me to see him watching me. A loving smile on his face, his eyes holding love for me.

"What do you think your looking at?" I tease, raising my brows.

"You, my lovely."

Blush creeps onto my cheeks and I look away, letting myself be distracted by the beauty around us; but I can feel his eyes on me.

I love him. Though he doesn't know that, not yet.

How could someone like me ever love him like how he deserves to be loved. He deserves so much better than me.....

"Close your eyes." his voice breaks me out of thought and I do what I'm told without question.

I trust him. with everything.

His hands snake around my waist and he walks me forward, my feet soon sinking into the soil slightly, before he scoops me up and sets me down. I put my hands out and touch the sides of something, the small thumping on the new ground reminds me of the wind on the surface of water.

I feel him get into the boat with me, then feel us be pushed away from what I am guessing to be the shore.

"May I open my eyes now?"

"Of course."

As I open my eyes, the sun is covered by a smooth lay of clouds over head, while the morning fog hides the surface of the water making it look like we are sailing on the clouds.

"You're beautiful."

I look at him, my smile as wild as a mustang.

"So are you."

He laughs and so do I.

We talk back and forth, his hand always holding mine.

But then he seems to slip into a bad memory. His eye's clouding and his brow furrowing.

"Elex, what's the matter?"

He looks at me and tries to hide it, but knows that he can't hide from me.

"How can an angel be with a devil?" his eyes are deep like the lake, muddled with different emotions. His head drops and I reach out, lifting his chin, looking right into his eyes.

"Maybe, the devil deserves it." I smile at him and he smiles weakly, his hands taking mine and cupping them on his cheeks as he leans forward and rests his forehead against mine.

"There is no way for him to deserve such a gift from the heavens." his breath tickles my lips and I crave to feel his flesh against mine.

"Why do you say such things?" My voice shaky, the sad look in his eyes making my heart hurt for him.

"I shouldn't be here." He shakes his head pulling away from me, "I should be here with you." His words more firm. cold.

"Elex." My heart picking up speed, my eyes watering. Why do I feel so strongly for him? Why do I feel as though he is going to be the best.....yet the scariest thing that has ever come into my life?

I go to touch his face, but as I do my fingers graze the rough wood and I flinch away as it cuts my skin. A low growl echoes from his throat and I watch in amazement along with horror as his veins bulge from his neck and forearms.

His mouth opening just slightly, but enough for me to see his long canines.

His hand grips my wrist harshly, bringing it to his lips, his eyes turning red as he looks at me; his tongue slipping out from his lips to glide along my fingers, down my palm to my wrist.

My breathing quick and thoughts in a haze as I hear him groan as his canines touch the surface of my skin.

I watch as his canines slowly pierce my skin and sink into my veins, I bite down on my bottom lip to stop the whimper coming up from the pain.

It burns. It hurts. It's uncomfortable, but it's not unbearable.

Elex looks up, eyes still a swimming blood red; but they are kind and startled. Slowly he pulls away from my wrist and his expression turns sorrowful.

"I've made you cry...." He whispers as he touches my cheek, his thumb wiping away a tear.

I hadn't realized I started to cry.

"You've hurt yourself." His eyes focus on my lips and I loosen my jaw to now feel the pain from where my teeth broke through my lip, the taste of blood leaking into my mouth.

Leaning in, Elex's lips meet mine and I don't hesitate to follow the sweet, gentle movement of his lips.

"I love you." I whisper out as his lips disappear from mine, too soon.

He pulls back and looks at me for a long time, his body stiff and hard, no recognition of how gentle he was just a moment ago.

"You can't love me." His words cut me, they cut deep and embed themselves into my skin, sinking into my bones.

I stay quiet, my mind only telling me one thing; he doesn't love me, like I thought. He deserves better. He wants better.
