As I tie my horse to the tree, my eyes wonder over the many faces of the towns people; but hoping to see just one in specific.
Her hair is in a loose bun hanging near her neck as strains of her beautiful cooper brown hair frame her face, the light breeze moving them around to caress her cheeks. Her light blue dress has a rounded neckline making her collar bones and breast very visible and very tempting.
Only one girl can make me drool and its her.
Carefully, as to not be seen, I walk among the crowd and watch as she looks at the different goods from all the different traders that came to town this season; the harvest will soon pass and winter will come, which makes this time not just plentiful of goods, but also of blood.
Staying in one town can be a trouble for my family, but we picked this town because of its location and this bountiful trade season.
With all the scents in the air, I find myself only drawn to one.
But why? Why her?
She is beautiful, one of the most beautiful woman I've ever seen; but there are others, who are not as hidden as she, who don't push my boundaries are far, and who just want to use me as I use them. Not her, no, she wants to be loved and loves to give all she has to the one who is willing to love just her.
She is so childish to think that just because I had my eye on her that she would be the only one, that I would drop everything to love her.
"I love you." Those words from her lips where like honey and I the grizzly more than willing to rip her apart to taste such sweetness.
My eye's land on a man in one of the booths next to the one Ronnie is at, his eyes scanning her as though she is a freshly slaughtered lamb. His tongue slides out and licks his lips, letting his canines be seen.
I almost growl. How dare he look at her like that.
Watching her walk around as though there isn't a monster in the shadows stalking her like a predator makes my stomach drop, she is so free, so careless, so tempting.
She makes me want to do cruel things to her.
I want to show her how dangerous it is to just let others see her, but why do I find myself not wanting others to see her? It is not like she is mine nor am I hers.
My body craves her touch, her taste.
Losing my senses, I weave through the crowd and grab her arm. She looks at me completely taken aback and shocked.
"Elex?" Her voice rings like silver and it sends chills down my spine.
"Come little rabbit."
Once we are behind an old building, I pin her to the wall, her eyes wide and breathing quick. I can smell the lavender in her hair; lifting my hand I touch a strained of her silk like hair and run it through my fingers, missing the moments when we would lay in the grass of my families estate and just lay in the sun, talking about the days.
"Elex, what do you want?" her voice is smooth, but is anything but calm.
"You are so open, so careless."
She looks at me, different emotions playing in them, but one appears that I did not expect at this moment. pain.
"It doesn't concern you."
"Oh, but it does." My voice is low, my lips hovering over her ear.
She jolts against my hold on her, but she can't get away.
I slide my leg in between hers, making her tense.
"You are tempting others little rabbit." the end of my tongue touches the large vein in her neck making goosebumps raise on her skin.
"Elex, let go." her voice shakes with fear.
"You are tempting a fox that you didn't even know was watching." I almost growl.
"You." she says with venom in her tone, she tries to fight against me again, but I press my chest to hers; making it impossible for her to move.
I stare into her eyes, they are scared and angry.
"Not just me."
She rolls her oh so luring eyes and I clench my jaw.
"You are too childish."
She glares at me now, "How dare you. What have I done to make you look down on me like this?"
I listen to Ronnie, but there is a change in the area around us, I look around to spot the man, the other vampire hiding in the shadow of a barn not too far away.
With little warning, I pin Ronnie's hands higher over her head and move straight for her neck; my fangs pierce her flesh like a knife on butter and she whimpers in pain. I find myself biting deeper, as the scent of the other vampire lingers in the air.
Though he has left, I don't remove my fangs from her.
I don't drink, I just want to claim her. Mark her as mine for all others to see.
She is mine.
Not noticing, I've tightened my jaw more as my blood boils with the other of other vampires getting anywhere near her; Ronnie whimpers again and tries to move which makes her let out a sob.
Slowly I lessen the pressure and remove my fangs from her, she slumps forward and I hold her to me; her forehead on my chest with her arms holding my forearms so she stays on her feet.
"What have I done to make you treat me like this? I am just another girl you parade around town." Her voice shaky, she pushes away from me.
I watch as she stands on shaky legs, tears clouding her eyes, her bottom lip trembling.
"That's not true." My words leave my mouth before I can properly decide if they are meant to be said.
"I don't believe you." Her words are cold and still like snowflakes and I find myself frozen in place by them as she walks away.
