Standing at the end of the hallway, I'm frozen.

I don't know what to do with myself as his eyes connect with mine and it is as if the world is just the two of us in a dance of predator and prey. My mouth feels as though it is sewn together and my fingers struggle to undo the knots of the string to release the scream in my throat as if scratches the soft flesh inside trying to get free.

The normal flooring in the hallway turning into cobble stone and the lockers blur into brick walls like an old alley way, my back pressed to the cool surface of it's ruff texture. I can remember the way the brick felt against my finger nails as I turned around quickly just as he threw me to the ground and dragged me along the cobble stone, my hands trying to grab anything to stop him from taking me. His fingers digging into my flesh making me scream out in pain as he drags me to a pitch black room inside one of the many buildings.

After that though, everything is just bits and pieces.

I remember smelling blood, it was heavy in the air like smoke as I limped aimless around in the room; tripping over a number of things and hitting my body on what seemed to be shelves in the small space. I remember his heavy breathing and how no matter how hard I tried to hide or get further away from it, it was right next to me.

"Ronnie?" I jump as Ashley puts a hand on my shoulder, I look at her than down the hall and it is the hall again, not the vision I was having.

"Yeah?"

"You ok?"

I look down the hall again and my body raises with goosebumps as the janitor looks down the hall way right at me, a sly smile on his lips showing his yellowed teeth.

"I don't know." I whisper, afraid for some reason, "I don't know."

"Hey it's ok, let's go find Elex." She wraps her arm around me and I nod slightly as she leads me away from the hallway and I follow her absent minded to where ever she was taking me.

"What's up?" A deep voice says and it pulls me from where ever I was in my head and I look at the hot, bad boy who seems to be my mate from the past.

Elex. My body wants to touch his, like a magnet I want to cling to him as if he will give me breath instead of oxygen.

"I found her just standing in the hall way, she was really pale." Ashley says, I look at her.

Really? is that what I looked like?

"Thanks for bringing her to me." Elex says before reaching for me and I let him, he gently takes my hand and he pulls me flat into his chest, where his heart is beating at an even pace, which makes all the other noise in my head fade out.

Ashley nods and smiles at us both before she skips down the hallway.

"What's the matter?" Elex asks once Ashley disappears from view, his hands turning my body so we are chest to chest and I am looking up at him.

"I was murdered." The words leave my mouth before I register what I am saying.

Elex's face twists with pain and he grabs my hand pulling me to the exit of the school and we walk out into the football field and walk along the track.

"I was murdered, right?" I ask this time when the silence becomes to much for me.

"Yes." Elex's voice is deep and I can tell that this is not an easy subject to be talking about.

"How?"

Elex looks at me and shows his fangs, I stop walking and think about the vision I was having earlier and it makes sense. I never knew about vampires before now, let alone that their are more than I could possibly imagine.

I am about to ask Elex something when I feel a tingling sensation in my legs, that slowly grows up my legs and torso to my lungs and finger tips. In a matter of seconds my whole body is overtaken with this sensation and it grows into an intense heat. Like I am being burned.

It gets hard to breath and I crouch down and hold my chest as a pain grows; my vision blurring as I now see a wood floor and my dress is on fire, blood covers my hands and I look up to see Ashley going out the window, her eyes filled with tears as she leaves me behind.

I try to talk, but nothing comes out but choking as the smoke gets thicker and thicker.

"Ronnie, breathe." Elex crouches down next to me and I reach for his face.

"Where were you?" I ask now, feeling abandoned.

Elex looks at me for a moment confused, but realization kicks in and his eyes are deep with the memories of this moment in our past.

"I wasn't there." His voice is just a whisper for me to hear his confession as if it has been a secret for so long.

"Where were you?" I ask again, feeling my heart pounding as if I am reliving this moment in the past, my body on fire and my mind only thinking of one person.

Elex leans forward and touches his lips to my forehead, his hands holding my face as if I am going to disappear any moment now.

Tears build in my eyes as more feelings from then come to the surface, the pain, the betrayal, the confusion, the loneliness and so many others mixed together as the flames take over me.

"I never forgave myself for what happened that night Ronnie, in a matter for moments you were with me and then you were taken and I was never the same after that." In the past I think I could remember Elex saying something as I burned, but I couldn't open my eyes or lips to tell him that I heard him.

As he holds me on the track, again the only words I could get out were, "Where were you?"
