ASHELY'S POV-
As I rush back to Ben and Mackenzie, my sense was right. Mackenzie is being pinned to the ground by Ben, her fangs extended and her eyes are blank like a wild animals.
"Mackenzie." I say her name firmly, but she just hisses back as me.
"Get mom." Ben grunts while Mackenzie struggles under him.
I nod and am about to rush to the stairs when a scream echoes through the house. Mackenzie stops Struggling and Ben looks to the hall where it came from.
My mind screams Ronnie! While my mouth drools at the new smell in the air.
The smell of blood leeks into the room and it's hard not to let the beast within us out; my body instinctively wants to feed, to devour the source, but I know I can't because she is my friend. My only friend here.
It would be wrong for me to feed off of her. To hurt her.
Ben is the first one to speed through the room, Mackenzie slowly stands up and straightens herself, but turns away from the chaos and goes out the glass doors.
I want to move, but I feel as though I'll just hurt her too if I go in there.
With a lot of bickering with myself I look around the corner to see Ben holding Jordan against the wall; Elex bent over Ronnie, holding her gently.
Elex must have sensed me watching because he looks up at me and glares. "If you can't control yourself, leave now." He spits.
He has every right to be furious with us, she is everything to him and she doesn't even know it.
Plus he and our mother expected more of us; the only reason we where allowed to go to school with the humans and have a tutor was because we have been working hard to control the beastly side of our species.
Mother warned us that to survive in the world we need to be able to life among them peacefully.
Great job we are doing so far, I mentally remark.
I look at Jordan, you'd barely be able to recognize him. His once blue eyes are now bright red, Ronnie's blood dried to his chin. His fangs bared, growling at everything that moves.
Jordan may seem like a jerk..... Well no, he is a jerk, but he has times where he isn't that big of a jerk.
Elex stands, cradling Ronnie in his arms; he glares at me again, a clear warning not to follow him, then turns towards the direction of his room.
Jordan tries to lung after him, but can't from Ben's hold.
My body moving on its own starts to stalk after Elex, the smell of blood thick and hot. I want it.
The beast so close to breaking through.
"Ashely. Jordan." The stern and firm voice of our mother says right next to me. I gasp and blink a few times, the heavy urge to go after Elex gone.
I turn and face her, "I'm disappointed." Her loving eyes now deemed and it makes my insides turn with disgust for myself that after all she has done for us, I almost like the beast win.
I look to the ground and lower my head in shame and respect for her.
Jordan is dead silent.
The air heavy and hard to breath.
"Jordan, to my office." Her words are like stones, not a question or a statement, they don't linger in the air. They hit you in the chest with force and Jordan moves towards the direction of her office.
I glance up and she signs, "go to your room, you were doing so well ash." She says more fondly than her strict words to Jordan.
"I'm sorry." I choke, the full realization coming to me, I was hunting Elex, to get to Ronnie. I could have killed both of them if Elex wasn't ready.
"Thank you for your apology, but you should apologize to your brother." With that she turns and leaves.
Ben lets out a huff of air and runs a hand through his hair, "well that was interesting."
I look at him weird, questioning his sanity.
"Oh come on, Elex would have never made a move on Ronnie if it weren't for Jordan's outburst."
"He could have killed her Ben." I say, imagining how much that would have destroyed Elex.
Ben nods, a more serious look on his face, "he isn't going to forgive Jordan easily."
I nod in agreement.
With that Ben leaves and I stay standing in the hall, ashamed that I pursed my urges.
I need to apologize to Elex.
Slowly I walk to Elex's room and stand in front of the door way, lifting my hand to knock, a low growl comes from inside.
"Elex, I just came to apologize." I say hoping he will know I mean peace.
When I don't get a reply, I open the door and close it behind me.
Ronnie is on his bed, a bandage on her neck, Elex is laying next to her; his large hand laced with hers as she sleeps.
"I'm sorry." I take another step closer and he watches me closely.
"He could have killed her if Ben and me didn't get to her sooner."
I nod, taking another step.
"You could have killed her." He growls and I stop, lowering my head in respect.
"I know, I didn't think her blood would appeal to us like that. I mean she is yours. And you are hers."
He looks back at her and gently rubs his fingers over her cheekbone, her skin a little more pale and her eyelashes wet.
"Jordan probably hates himself." I whisper, Elex growls louder and it stumble back.
"He should!" The words leave his mouth in hatred and his fangs extend. "Like you said, she is mine! Therefore he should have never touched her!"
The jealous and rage he feels is all mixed together, his murderous aura giving me goosebumps.
Ronnie whimpers next to him, probably from the tension he is giving off and all of the rage vanishes from him, a cornered look replacing them.
Elex has never been one to care for others, until it came to Ronnie.
