>>> ELEX'S POV
I watch as Ronnie wonders down the hall way, her earbuds in and hair in crazy bed head mess; but she is stunning. Her sweats hang low on her hips and her slightly short shit lets you get a peek of her sides and lower back when she walks. I ball my hands into fists, the urge to touch her warm skin on my finger tips makes me crazy. She drives me crazy.
"If you keep staring after her like that, people are going to think your a stalker." I look to my sister Ashley and she smiles a victorious smile at me.
"What do you want Ash?" I grumble, shutting my locker and walking down the hall in the direction Ronnie went.
"Just wonder when you are going to spill the beans to my friend, i mean the poor girl thinks she is going insane." Ashley's voice was teasing, but it turned more concerned towards the end.
I look at the floor and try not to lose my cool, even I even have any left after meeting Ronnie; her words from a few days ago still fresh on my mind.
"Don't let him get me again."
The way her body shook with fear against mine, made my blood boil to the point I almost went and killed that monster right then; but I couldn't possible kill him in the school hallway, there would be too much to explain, too much of a chance of things going wrong.
Yeah Mackenzie could always make everyone forget, but that would be tampering with everyone's life's and I'm not even that cruel.
"I can't do it." I faintly say and Ashley grabs my arm to stop me from walking, pulling aside in the hall.
"Elex, what happened that time is was-"
"Don't you dare say it wasn't my fault!" I hiss at her, eyes glowing red. "What happened that night, what happened a century ago; they were both my fault! And I will never be able to forgive myself for what happened to her. She trusted me!" I run a frustrated hand through my hair and let out a growl.
She trusted me..... and I betrayed that trust.
I don't know she will ever be able to trust me again.
"Elex, you weren't to blame for what happened a century ago. That was that bastards doing and you know that, don't let what he said make you think it was you." Ashley looks at me with kind eyes and I take a deep breath.
She has no idea what really happened though.
It was because of my temper.
"Hey, have you forgotten that I can hear your thoughts?" She gives me a pointed look, "I might not know all the details, but why do you think that Ronnie keeps being reincarnated? Because the two of you are mean to be together. Elex, she is your mate. You don't get two of them, you only get one." Ashley looks down and I see tears building in her eyes.
She has been waiting for as long as I can remember to find her mate, along with my other siblings. You see, mate's for vampires have always been hard to find, some never find their mates. Other's who find them, they live happily.
For those who find their mates when they have already given up on looking for them; many end up killing their mates out of hate and revenge for making them live so long without them. Though the mates have no idea how to find us, even if they wanted to.
It is all by chance that you meet in the same life time and even more rare for the two of you to meet when they are being reincarnated. I guess you could say that me and Ronnie are the rare chance to meet as many times as we have.
When I said that the last time I saw her was in 1832, I lied.
I saw her in the 1920's.
She was a flapper, a gorgeous dancer who wowed all those who went to the club to see her and her group dance. It was in New Orleans, the city of music. Of course she would be here, I thought to myself as I watched her dance.
Ronnie has always been attracted to music, it calls her soul no matter what time period it is. It gives her a consent in her ever changing life.
"Elex, you need to tell her soon. Or at least return her memories." Ashley says in a pleading voice, "I know how much you miss her, but I miss her too. She has always been my best friend."
I look at my sister and I feel a drop in my chest.
That's right, they have always had a close friendship through the centuries. Ashley was with her in 1832 when.....when Ronnie was killed.
Ashley was with her on stage in the 1920's.
If I could describe Ashley, she would probably qualify to be Ronnie's guardian angel.
"I'll tell her soon Ashley, I promise. She just is not ready for that yet. To have all those memories come flooding back, all the times she has died, all her different life's. It will take time to have her be ready for them, without breaking the her now."
Ashley nods, "I understand."
"Thank you." I lean forward and kiss her forward, then walk down the hall, out the doors and towards the house.
Jane needs to know who is in town again, we might not know what his plan is yet; but that won't be for long, I guarantee you that.
