Watching the curtains raise, my heart is humming in anticipation; but as soon as her eye's meet mine I feel whole. I feel at peace. Like nothing could every pull us apart this time.

But I know that isn't the case, many things could happen and she could be torn from me again.

Shaking those thoughts out of my head for now, I watch her dance with the music being her air, she moves as if it consumes her in a way that nothing else in this world does. Her movements are flawless and she dances with a small smile on her face as if she holds a secret.

To think that I could fall even more in love with her is mind-boggling, but its happening right now. After all these years here she is and she is mine.

When the night draws on and people begin to leave, Ashley and Ronnie come off stage and walk to the table where I have been so captivated that I didn't realize I was the only one left in the club.

"How'd we do?" Ashley asks with a slight pant, clearly tired.

"You did well for your first night." I tease, Ashley goes to punch my arm, but I dodge it.

"You." She glares at me, then turns and walks to the bar where she sweet talks the bar tender into giving us free drinks. I roll my eyes at her.

"Did you enjoy the preference?" Ronnie asks, I look back to her and my hands ache to touch her skin, to feel her body next to mine again like how we would spend time together in the apple orchards in the past.

"Very much so, have you been dancing for long?"

"Just a year or two, I don't really remember where or what I was doing before this." She shrugs and my mind flashes to walking up on her old home burning, her inside with it.

"Maybe you are where you are meant to be." My voice is soft and more to myself than to her, but she hears me and smiles softly.

"Perhaps you are right."

Ashley makes a fuss over by the bar and Ronnie looks over, a slightly laugh leaving her lips; but I can't look away from her hand which is so close to mine. My hand automatically reaches out and our skin grazes, her warm touch is everything I remember it being.

She looks back to me and I look up at her, my hand fully holding hers now. She looks down at our hands, but doesn't move to take it away.

"Why does it feel like I know you from somewhere?" She looks at me, as if she is studying me.

"Maybe we met in another life."

Her eyes light up with some type of curiosity and her hand tightens around mine. "Elex, I-"

"What are you two talking about?" Ashley makes Ronnie jump as she comes up right behind her. I almost growl at Ashley, who gives me a playful wink knowing exactly what she just did.

"Nothing much," Ronnie takes her hand away, "Elex what just telling me how much he liked the preference."

"Oh, is that so?" Ashley says with a teasing tone.

"Yes, I was. You both did every well." I grumble, grabbing one of the drinks that she brought back and downing it.

We all sit around and talk for a while longer, but the owner tells us that it is time for them to lock up, so we all walk out onto the open street. The sidewalks are almost completely empty and the music has come to a low lullaby in the distance.

"Well, I guess it is time for me to get back to the house." Ronnie says, doing up the last button on her coat.

"Awe do you have to?" Ashley whines, "It is still early."

Ronnie and me look at her than to each other, clearly she is a little drunk.

"I should get her back to the room, have her sleep some of this off." I say and turn to Ronnie who nods a little, but looks to the ground.

Disappointment clear in her eyes.

I slide a finger under her chin and step closer to her; the feeling of her pounding heart against my chest. I lean in closer and the smell of the whiskey we were drinking lingers on her tongue.

"Get home safe, ok?" my voice low so that she is the only one who hears it.

She slowly nods, her tongue peeking out to lick her lip; I clench my jaw, so badly wanting to bite that lip and taste her again after all these years.

"Elex." She whispers breathlessly and hearing my name come from her lips after so long, I can't hold back. I connect our lips and kiss her softly, but with hast. She is still for a moment in surprise, but within two movements from my lips on hers she is kissing me back.

The kiss is needy and rough, but we both want more. Every time I lessen, but pushes for more and when she slows, I crave to make it faster. When we both slow to breath, I rest my forehead on hers and look at her. Her beautiful eyes are still closed and she breathes calmly trying to get her heart to slow down.

I mentally scold myself for my rash behavior, it was only meant to be a sweet kiss goodnight; but clearly it was so much more than that. When she opens her eyes, blush flushes her cheeks and she looks at me timidly.

I smile, "You are flushed."

"Don't say it." She hides her face in my chest and I hold her in my arms.

I lean down and hover my lips above her ear, "Goodnight my little rabbit."

She looks at me with a look of confusion, but then she smiles at me and I let her go; as we part ways my hand slides down her arm and to her hand. when my fingers are just barely on her fingers still she whispers softly into the night.

"Goodnight Mr. fox."
