Chapter 26: Meet Me in the Middle
{K. M}
"Are you actually considering this?" Marcel all but growls at Klaus, their faces inches apart as they argued.
"You think I'm happy about this? If they do the Harvest and regain their power, we lose Davina but if we don't we lose New Orleans."
Marcel threw his hands up in the air. "Now you care about the city."
"We ought to," Elijah dryly interjects. "We built it."
"It's burned to the grown twice, I will not allow a third."
Marcel backed away disappearing into the mansion, his intentions pure but he consequences would be great. "Where are you going?" Dakota briefs him, preventing him from walking any further down the hall.
"To protect my family."
Dakota side-stepped him, her hands crossed at her chest. "It's for the greater good, this Harvest. One life ended to save the thousands who'd die. Poetic in my opinion."
"I don't like poetry."
"You don't to like it," She retorts, continuing to block Marcel's attempts to reach the child's room. Marcel stilled before he laid a hand on the woman, he didn't want to hurt her while blinded by his anger. She was strong and very pregnant—Marcel had a thing about protecting children. "—you just have to understand it."
"Well, I don't. I don't understand how you could be okay with killing a child."
There was a pause between the two. "Davina isn't just a child, Marcel. She's out of control and this Harvest will help her. When she's back to normal, then everything will be better."
Dakota couldn't stop him any longer, he used an advantage she was no longer wired to. The speed he used to get Davina and get out was more than Dakota had and she simply walked to Klaus. "He took the girl."
"What?" Elijah immediately cut the conversation with Klaus, stepping forward to give the woman his complete and undivided.
"Marcel took Davina, I don't know where he's taking her but we'd better find her before the city's demolished."
Klaus hiked up a brow. "We? Doctor said no stress."
"Doctor doesn't know my family is a bunch of vampires and that New Orleans will soon seize to exist if we can't find that girl."
"Fair point. I'll have Rebekah stay with you."
Dakota scoffed at him. She should've known he'd find a way to keep her out of the mix, she was still fragile and her anger towards Davina could cause issues. "I'll die if she isn't found. I'll die and I won't be able to come back this time nor will the baby. So, when you find her, you kill that girl."
