Chapter 44: Rule The World

"Will you cut it out?" Dakota stepped into Klaus' art room, turning of the fast paced classical music he had playing. She could hear his frustration down the hall for that past hour, his anger being taken out on the blank canvases that were thrown across the room. "I'm the female here, yet you are far more dramatic than any woman I've ever seen."
Klaus panted heavily, his shirt off and Dakota could see the sweat dripping down the back of his neck, his black tattoo of birds flying showing up beautifully against his tanned skin. "How are you doing this so well? Waiting around for months, closed down the mansion for everyone, been away from out child and you are far more sane than I."
"Because I have faith that this will work," She rested her hand on his cheek, holding him and keeping him upright as he held onto her tightly, his head falling into the crook of her neck. Nik took slow and steady inhales of her scent, calming down within seconds. "Should I draw a bath for you? There are salts under the sink and that one bath bomb left in the cabinet."
"You are too good to me."
Her finger raked through his hair, his boy going limp as he relaxed into her. "I'll put on some tea too, you'll need your strength for tomorrow."
"Another night of pathetic weakness as the moonlight rings steal my strength."
"It'll end soon enough, I promise."
Elijah walked through, the two separating at the sight of him. He was dressed professionally, as usual, his face looking slightly more rugged as he allowed his stubble to come through. "Maybe sooner than you thought. I've located all twelve of the moonlight rings."
Klaus perked up. "We can kill them now."
"Slow down, brother. We will get out revenge, just make sure we're all on the same page with a solid plan."
Dakota checked her watch. "I have to head out, I have to pick up a package."
"From who?"
"Damon," She informed, tugging her long brown hair up into a ponytail. "He's sending me some stuff he found out about the wolves, it's a book I think. He got it from Tyler Lockwood."
Elijah closed his eyes, remembering the small town that he and his family had once resided in. "I do not miss that problematic little town."
"You're telling me."

Dakota knew that people were watching her, following her around since they'd discovered her status as a vampire. Francesca Carrera had been hiding away ever since she'd been blamed for the "death" of the Mikaelson baby—a lie used to protect the child from the witches and her enemies.
Ignoring the stared and glances she got from passerby's that knew of her, she walked down the street, headphone in her ears, the music calming her until someone walked out of the music shop, their body colliding with hers.
Her fist shot up to punch the blonde haired man with astonishing blue eyes when his hand touched her, but she refrained when he raised his hands in surrender. "My apologies, darling, I wasn't watching where I was going."
"Obviously."
"Bitchy," He joked, a smile spreading against his attractive face.
Dakota froze, the look on his face seeming all too familiar to her. "Do I know you?"
"Probably not, I'm Kaleb."
She rejected his outstretched hand, looking at it as if it was poisonous. "Whatever, just watch where you're walking." Dakota walked away from him without so much as a second glance, strutting straight past the post office. Getting on a ferry, she went across the river until she walked up to a abandoned building.
"Come on," She'd heard. "There must be a keep in here. This is the tenth group I've brought to you."
"What about me?" Dakota stepped into their line of view, Marcel smiling the moment he saw her. Secretly, for a few days in the passing months she and Marcel had been meeting up to discuss a plan to get back at the wolves and witches so she could bring her baby home. They'd considered involving Klaus, but he'd been far too irritable and fueled on revenge that they decided against it—Elijah knew though.
"Dakota King," He greeted, it'd been a while since they'd last seen one another. "Or is it Mikaelson now?
"Still King, I refuse to get married until I have every single eye in all of New Orleans on me and is get that with the wolves in my way."
Marcel walked through he small group of people he'd gathered. "Always an attention whore, but it seems you've come during my recruiting time. Care to join me?"
"I did come across a river just to see you, so I suppose."
Josh, the vampire that had betrayed Klaus all that time ago stood beside them. "What are you looking for anyway? They all look tough."
"It's not about being tough, it's about being a warrior."
"What's the difference?"
A new voice came from behind, causing Dakota to tense momentarily. "A warrior fights for what they believe in. He fights for his family." Klaus stepped forward. "Come on, sweetheart, do you really think I'd just let you roam the streets all alone without protection?"
"Actually, I was hoping you'd finally get out of your room and do something productive."
His face showed determination. "So, what's the plan?"
