Chapter Nine
Miles ran to school and tackled Michael. "Why didn't you tell me?" he hissed. He turned and pointed an accusatory finger at Alex. "And you, why didn't you tell me either?"
"In our defense," Alex began, "Gabe didn't tell you either."
"That doesn't matter because he's my love! I'll forgive him no matter what!" Miles shouted.
By now, they were causing a scene. Jason and Tyler simply watched, like frozen dummies. Did they know everything too? Miles stood up and glared at them questioningly.
He didn't realize it was all a dream until the boys started dancing to the beat of the Ke$ha song that came from Miles' cellphone, telling him it was time to wake up.
Miles' eyes flew open. "Miles, why is Cannibal by Ke$ha your ringtone?" Gabriel asked.
Miles slid out from under Gabe's arm and onto the floor. "Because it reminds me of you," he replied.
"I take that to offense. I would never 'pull a Jeffrey Dahmer'," Gabriel told him, stretching.
"Are you sure?" Miles asked.
Gabriel slid out of the bed and onto Miles. He lay his head on Miles' chest. "I'm certain. I may drink their blood, but that's about it," he replied.
Miles smiled and patted Gabriel's back. "We need to go to school, remember?" he said gently.
Gabriel groaned and didn't move. For a while they lay there, not moving and seemingly, not even breathing. Gabriel jumped to his feet when the door knob began rattling. "Gabriel! Miles! Why aren't you on your way to school yet?" Gabe's father's voice called.
"Late start! Sorry dad, we're hurrying!" Gabe shouted back.
Miles sighed and stood up.
"Where were you two this morning?" Michael asked during passing period after first hour.
"I don't know, where were you this morning?" Miles replied, narrowing his eyes.
Michael blinked a little, confused, "I was here..."
"Are you sure you weren't off drinking blood?!" Miles half-shouted.
Michael immediately clamped his hand over Miles' mouth. His voice was low as he said, "Miles, what the hell do you think you're doing? Don't shout stuff like that."
Gabriel grabbed Michael's hand and moved it away. "I agree, but don't make yourself look suspicious afterwards."
"Sorry, but he shouldn't be shouting it out."
"Maybe if you had told me, I wouldn't have had to shout it," Miles whispered.
Michael rolled his eyes, "Look, no one else told you either!" Miles bared his fangs instinctively at the tone of his voice. Michael rolled his eyes and opened his mouth, "I have those too."
