Chapter Ten
Miles and Tyler in the student parking lot. They'd returned from McDonald's and were eating their food in the car. They were eating in silence, slowly taking bites of their McDoubles and fries.
Finally, Miles broke the silence. "You said you wanted to talk to me about something."
Tyler cleared his throat and set the cheeseburger on his lap. "That's true. It's because I feel I can trust you with this. I don't... I don't think I can tell any of the others," he said slowly.
Miles turned to him, "Okay. Go ahead and tell me."
He sighed and hesitated. "I'm... I'm gay," he said quietly.
Miles sat, frozen, for a few minutes. "Oh... 'Kay..." he said slowly.
Tyler looked at him, his blue eyes glimmering with emotion. "Is that all you have to say? No encouragment, no judgement?"
Miles shrugged, "You just caught me by surprise is all. I'm not going to judge you, why would I? Anyway, all I can say is that I'll support you."
"Don't tell the others ok? Not even Gabe."
Miles nodded.
"Promise me."
"Cross your heart and hope to die?"
"I don't want to die!"
Tyler rolled his eyes. "Come on Miles, you know what I mean!" he said.
Miles smiled a little, "I know, I know. Yes, cross my heart, hope to die, stick a needle in my eye, and so on and so forth!"

After lunch ended, Miles walked to his class. He was walking casually, except, when he saw Gabriel standing outside of the door, his heart fell. Gabe asked him to wait for him and, once again, he'd gone off with Tyler.
"Gabe! I-"
He cut Miles off with an extremely hurtful slap. He'd put so much force into that I was surprised I didn't pass out. I stumbled to the side and looked over at him.
"You. You left me again, you went off with Tyler didn't you?" Gabriel hissed angrily.
"He came after you guys left! I-I thought it'd be okay! We lost track of time talking!" Miles explained frantically.
Gabe shoved him against the wall. "What were you two talking about, huh? What?" When Miles didn't reply, Gabriel narrowed his eyes. "I'll deal with you at home," he said, shoving Miles one last time.

Miles walked uncomfortably in the awkward silence that had enveloped him and his master. Gabriel looked straight ahead, clenching his teeth. Miles could almost hear the sound of teeth grinding against eachother in anger.
"Gab--"
"Shutup! Don't talk!" Gabriel ordered.
Miles looked down and obeyed, not wanting to make Gabe angrier.
