Chapter One
Eight (vampire) years later...
"Miles."
"Yes?"
"Come sleep in my bed tonight."
Gabriel leaned out of his bed and glanced playfully up at Miles, who was on the top bunk. Miles looked down at him. "I don't think your father approves of us sleeping in the same bed," he said.
Gabriel frowned. "So? You're mine, not his, you're supposed to do as I wish. Besides, it's almost my birthday," he mentioned. Miles continued looking down at him with a serious expression.
At the age of sixteen (in vampire years) Miles had become a handsome young vampire. His black hair was shinier, his green eyes greener. He still had a tall, slim figure that made him irresistable.
Gabriel was only two days away from turning seventeen. He too had grown into a good-looking young man, with looks that girls went crazy over. His blue eyes resembled oceans and his brown hair was straight and in the latest style. He was as tall as Miles, but with more of a muscular build. Not body-builder type muscles, just the nice six-pack type of muscles.
Not to mention, Gabriel had donned a rebelious look, wearing snake-bite lip rings, while Miles had taken on more of a 'toned down' version of Gabe's look, refusing to wear snake-bites. Gabriel had tried and tried, but no matter what, Miles wouldn't give in.
Miles sighed and rolled over to climb down the ladder. "Very well," he said, sliding into Gabriel's bed. Truthfully, Miles was extremely happy to be sleeping in his master's bed.
Gabriel smiled and shut his eyes again. He wrapped a single arm around Miles' neck. "Thank you, good-night Miles," he said, yawning.
"Good-night," Miles said. He remained absolutely still until he heard Gabriel's breathing slow and heard him start quietly snoring. Finally, Miles relaxed and soon, he too, had fallen into a deep sleep.
Miles woke up the next morning to find the space next to him empty. It was cold, so Gabe had probably left sometime ago, probably to find food or something. Instinctively, Miles felt his neck, checking for any marks. Sometimes, Gabriel would wake up early and drink Miles' blood without him feeling it. When he didn't feel anything, he rolled out of the bed and fell to the floor gently with a small thud.
There was a rustling sound and Miles looked up to see Gabe standing over him. "Did you just fall out of bed?" he asked.
Miles shook his head, "No, I like rolling out of bed."
Gabriel smirked, "Because you know I like it when you fall out in an adorable way?"
Miles' cheeks turned a dark pink colour and he quickly stood up. "No, I didn't know that until just now!" he retorted. Gabriel laughed and placed a hand gently on Miles' cheek.
"Why are you blushing, silly boy?" he teased.
He fought back the urge to push Gabriel away.
Finally, after a moment, Gabe drew away from Miles. "Anyway, what should we do today? The possibilities are endless, what with the rings and all," he asked. His voice told Miles that he wanted to do something bad and/or illegal.
"Why don't we just stay inside and watch TV?" Miles tried.
Gabriel laughed, "You're joking! Let's go to that human school down the road! We're teenagers after all." He turned to Miles and winked.
