Ok, so lately I'm watching Steven Universe, and I just realized that it's really similar to Transformers that it's weirdly coincidental
Like, let's get some examples:
1) In SU, gems are made to fit their class. So in Gem World they have the caste system, where for an example, a Pearl is automatically a servent/lower class. Sounds familiar? Well, in the IDW Comics and TFP, you got this idea that a Cybertronian is built to their caste level. So if you transform into a space shuttle, you are automatically in the science department of space exploration. Transform into a data slug? Then you're useless waste of metal since no one cares about flash drivers.
2) In Steven Universe, you got fusion. In Transformers, you got combiners. I still remember that comment that my friend TKuiper showed us where someone commented as a joke "Combining is just a way for weaker Transformers to become bigger" or something like that. But still...
3) Sari and Steven. Do I need to explain more?
4) Civil War, ended up with the Crystal Gems on Earth *cough*Autobots*cough* and millions of cracked gems/corrupted
Now, I'm not saying that SU stole from Transformers or Transformers stole from SU, I'm just noting out those cool comparisons
In fact, it's the Gem World that makes me interested in Steven Universe in the first place.
So if you like the world of Transformers and it's characters you probably will like Steven Universe
Peace out!
