Romance In Media

OK, I hope y'all don't get this wrong idea of me hating on romance

I don't

I like it if the romance is incorperated into the story as a side, unless it's the Hunger Games, which by the way I loved how the writer turned "Romance" into a survival advantage in the series

I love how in Percy Jackson series, Percy doesn't even officially date Annabeth until the FIFTH BOOK

If anything, I wish stories to be like the anime "My Daddy Long Legs" which is based off of the 1912 story Daddy Long Legs

It's probably on of the few realistic fiction that I personally think IS a realistic fiction, not those bullshit that they shove at us in the library claiming it's good teen fiction when in reality it's just some stupid disguise for cliched romance story

What did the anime "My Daddy Long Legs" have that made it a great anime without it shoving non-realistic aspects of life down our throats?

-Judy has her own quirks and faults, and by faults I mean as in the fact that she is pushover, she lies about her background as an orphan, and denies her past
-Her relationships with others and how she views life, ie, the fact that she calls all rich people "snobby jerks who use poor people as a way to show off their virtues"
-She has a talent, and she uses that talent to succeed in life as a high school student
-She's pretty self criticizing like damn! Chill out lady
-IT ISN'T JUST ABOUT HER ROMANCE LIFE WITH DADDY LONG LEGS It's also her experience outside the orphanage, her view on society, her growing rebellious nature of Daddy Long Legs as she doesn't want him to take care of her anymore, realizing her independence
-She isn't all mopey either, she goes on to cover up her mopeyness with a cheerful attitude

All that I mentioned are just SOME aspects of how great the show is with realistic life for ANIME like you know how anime is all for adding their own spin of no realism? WELL THIS ONE SUCCEEDED IN AVOIDING THAT

I just wish novels would stop it with romance as the big thing in a story. Zootopia proved a great story without a love story! Ironman from Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes and how we don't see only his troubles with his romantic life with Pepper, but also as how the others view him as sometimes an egoistic asshole when in reality he tries to do some good

Life isn't all romance authors, add in some other life troubles too!

And even if the story has romance as a main point, please make it darn realistic too. In the Legends series, June and Day stopped being a couple for so long after June became the secretary advisor of the new leader of the Republic because of the clear difference that they are both different: June, the prodigy and of wealthy class, with Day who is of the poor slums and a criminal? Yeah, good thing for you Marie Lu for making sure it wasn't a perfect romance *thumbs up*

~*Fae takes a deep vent as she relaxes from this long ass discussion point of why romances should be on the side and not the main point of a series or media*
