Ally's POV:
We got back home at around 2 a.m. when the hospital had made sure I didn't have a concussion or lung damage.
Thankfully, I was ok. But I couldn't recall what had happened to put me in a hospital. So on the car ride home, I asked Austin.
"What happened at the beach?"
He thought for a second, obviously groggy and half asleep. "Well the waves knocked you down and started carrying you off. You went unconscious sometime in that process," he replied.
"And you saved me?"
The car was quiet. "I don't know, I mean of course I went after you-"
"Are you the one who found me in the water?"
"Yeah."
"Are you the one who brought me to shore?"
"Yes."
"Are you the one who helped me gain consciousness?"
"I wouldn't say that, I just checked you for bleeding or bruises."
"Thank you, Austin," I whispered.
He looked puzzled. "You don't have to thank me, Ally. Of course I'd try to save you. You mean the world to me."
I blushed. Good thing it was dark in the car. I wanted to kiss his cheek or hug him or SOMETHING but there was a foot or two of space between us and unless he leaned in, I couldn't reach him.
So instead, i just smiled at him looking him directly in the eyes. When he saw me, he smiled back and even winked.
Gosh, the feelings he could evoke in my stomach were insane.
"I'm very proud of you, Austy. And I know he cares about you very much, Ally. I'm so glad you're ok. I called you're parents and they were extremely worried. Be sure to give them a call tomorrow to ensure them that you're alright. I'm sure they want to hear your voice," Mr. Moon said, adjusting herself so that she was facing the back seat.
"Yes ma'am, and thank you for everything." I am truly grateful for this spectacular second family I have.
"You know you're a daughter to me," she chuckled.
It was nice to forget about the whole fake pregnancy thing for awhile.
Austin's POV:
-later that night-
I was walking through the hall to get to my nice warm bed that I had been looking forward to laying in for hours, when someone tapped my shoulder. I quickly turned around to see Ally.
"Can you um, can you bend down a little?" She asked rather shyly.
As confused as I was, I obliged to her request and slowly bent my knees until I was almost eye level with her.
With that, she put a palm on my left cheek, turning my head to the side. I didn't know what she was doing, but I felt a flutter in my stomach.
I felt her lips softly kiss my cheek and that flutter erupted.
"What was that for?" I asked feeling my cheeks burn up as I returned to my normal height.
Her beautiful smile was back again. "I just can't thank you enough Austin. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't be here," she whispered.
"Don't think about what would've happened. I don't want to think about it," I admitted, shooing the thoughts away as soon as they came.
You know how sometimes you can just see what someone's feeling through their eyes? Ally looked lovestruck, and I probably did too. After a few seconds of the intense quiet, she turned and walked to her room.
I watched her go, feeling that spot on my cheek still buzzing. I really want another kiss, but she said we couldn't anymore. I respect that, but could she not be so tempting all the time? I wanted to kiss her when I knew she was ok earlier, I wanted to kiss her in that hospital room, I wanted to kiss her in the car. How am I supposed to hold up forever?
At least she's here with me, alive and well.
