I awoke with a sharp pain running across the back of my head. Attempting to get up, I crawled onto my knees, instantly falling back down. The pain shot from the back of my head down throughout my whole body. Aches rippling down my spine, stabbing sensations tingling in the bottom of my feet, and my hands are colder then a freezer. Wherever I am, it’s freezing, and darker then night.
In another attempt to get up, I slowly crawled onto my hands, pushing myself to my knees. The pain ripped through, even worse then before. Groaning, I looked up to the ceiling.
Nothing up there. Nothing to my sides. Nothing in front of me, but pitch black. Nothing. Nothing at all. Even if there was something hiding somewhere within here, it’d still be hidden in the depths of this freezer. Of this ugly, dark, wretched freezer.
Voices echoed somewhere within the room. Where, I have no clue whatsoever. All I know is that it was the kidnappers, or gangsters, or whoever those punks were from when I last saw them.
“…Yeah, she was out cold last time I was in here.”
“You better hope she still is. I don’t want to be lipped, Jack.”
“She is, I swear.”
A door right across from me opened, and light shone through, blinding me for a moment. Fear started sweeping through my body. Those faces from last night…
Suddenly, flashbacks ran through my mind. Jack grabbing my arm, them shoving me in the trunk, the smell of alcohol covering my clothes. On their breath. The youngest looking at me with eyes full of sorrow and regret. The blood oozing down my back from them beating me when I wouldn’t stop screaming. It all came back.
Rushing into the closest corner, I tried to hide in a corner, hyperventilating. Adrenaline pumping through my veins, I put on a hard face, trying to keep my cool.
“Hey muffin, how are you? Are you okay now?” Joe asked.
“I’m fine. What do you want with me. Why am I here?”
“Relax, relax. I don’t want to hurt you… anymore. Alright?”
He waited for an answer, but I continued to keep a hard face, glaring at him. He sighed, letting out a huge puff of air.
“Alright, I’m sorry. We were…intoxicated, lets just say. I didn’t mean anything by it. When we get drinking, we get fucked right up. As you can see…”
“Yeah, I did.” I snapped.
“So… Again, sorry.” He flashed me a sweet smile, still getting no other response from me. He then frowned, staring at me with his deep green eyes.
“We’re going to let you go, and we’ll take you to the hospital to get the gash on the back of your head checked out. Sound good?”
I nodded, and replied after some time. “I guess. Being intoxicated is no reason to act that way. I hope you know you have an enemy now… And my two best guy friends will want to track you down…”
His eyes turned hard. “You won’t tell them, because we’re nice enough to get you checked out. Comprendes? Si o no?”
“No, no soy un idiota. Voy a ir al hospital, y despues a mi casa. Comprendes?”
His face went blank, staring at me. After about two minutes, he spoke with a heavy accent. “Hablas espanol?”
“Si, hablo espanol. No mucho, pero todavia espanol.”
