Coronation Day

The day of Claressa's coronation came. The North kingdom had prepared the whole northern land for the glorious day. Everything had been planned already, the coronation itself would have been in the main hall of the castle, and the feast would have been in the ice garden. It was early in the morning when the queen's maidens had already started preparing her dress.

"You look lovely, my queen." - One of the maidens said, as she was putting on the cloak on the dress.

"Thank you." - Claressa said with a soft and quiet voice, as she was not happy.

All of a sudden Kara walked in to the room. She was Claressa's most trustful person, hand of the queen, you might say.

"Why do you look so disappointed, my queen." - Kara said looking at Claressa's reflection.

"I'm not disappointed, I'm just less enthusiastic than anyone else." - The queen answered, as she was smelling the ice roses on the table beside her.

"I've watched both your mother's and grandmother's coronations, and both of them were over the moon." - Kara said with a smile.

"Just because my mother and grandmother were 'over the moon', as you say, does that mean I should be too? What should I be happy about?! Because my mother died, and I should rule over a whole kingdom, by myself, at the age of twenty?! - Claressa yelled with both anger and sadness in her tone.

"I'm sorry my queen, I didn't mean to upset you." - Kara said, ashamed.

"I-I'm sorry. I shouldn't have yelled at you. I'm just not ready to be a queen. I just turned twenty, two months ago I felt like a child, and now I have to run a whole kingdom all alone. I'm afraid, lonely and insecure. I'm just not ready to do this." - Claressa said as tears fell from her eyes.

Tears appeared in the maiden's eyes as well, as they remembered queen Nora, Claressa's mother. She had died a month before the coronation, out of a decease.

"You are not alone, my queen. I'm by your side, the North is by your side, every person in the kingdom remembers your mother's kindness and good ruling. They have watched you grow into the queen you now see in the mirror. They will support you, without a question. You just have to have faith in yourself. I'm sure you will be a greater queen even than your mother." - Kara said in attempt to make the queen feel better.

Afternoon came. The guests had already arrived at the castle and were gathered in the main hall. People were drinking, eating and talking about the new queen. When the door opened the hall went quiet. As Claressa appeared, everyone were stunned by her beauty. There she was walking down the ice blue carpet, in winter coloured gown and white floor-long cape studded with ice crystals.

"Now and here, I name Claressa the First, Queen of the North and Protector of its people." - As the ice priest spoke those words and Claressa sat on the Ice Throne every one in the hall started clapping with joy written on their faces. At that moment Claressa thought:

"All these people, they...they rely on me, they believe in me. I can't disappoint them. I have to be the queen they want, the queen they deserve. I will be that queen...for them, for me and for my mother!"
