Chapter 7

You turned the music off and answered the phone. Adam sat down next to you.
You: Hi aunty.
The mum: Hi sweety. They found her body.....
You: When *teary eyed*
The mum: Day before yesterday. A few kilometers away from the river bank. Forensic analysis show she was drugged up and thrown into the river.
You:.....*starts to cry* ok aunty. When is the funeral?
The mum: Day after tomorrow honey. See you there *teary voice* *puts phone down*
You didn't know what to do but just cry. Adam held your hand and put his arm around you.
Adam: Listen. It's not over you've got me and Slim.
You: I never had a best friend like her in my whole life. She was so beautiful and funny. But now she's gone. She died in pain *closes eyes* everyone I love died in pain.....
Adam: No don't say that. None of this, look at me, *looks you in the eye* none of this was your fault *gives you a hug*
That hug that Adam gave you made you feel so secure. You stopped crying and just breathed calmly over his shoulder. You felt so safe in his arms.
Adam felt like he was holding his world in his arms.
Adam: I'll come day after tomorrow with you. Everything will be fine.
You looked at Adam in his eyes, you could see the promise in his eyes. Both of you sat on the couch and you laid your head on his shoulder. You just closed your eyes and fell asleep. Adam wanted you to sleep comfortably so he placed your head on a couple of cushions. He walked to your bedroom and took a blanket and put it over you.
He turned the television off and cleared up the table. He was about to leave but kept staring at your innocent face. He didn't want to just leave, so he kissed you gently on your head.
Adam: Goodnight.....
