jeongguk didn't know how—neither does taehyung—they gradually became closer in a matter of two weeks. it was already half of the month until jeongguk had to return to hours of dance practice, songwriting, photoshoots, and music video making.
in all honesty, he wasn't fond of the consistent and busy schedule he had to follow for weeks on end. all he really wanted to do was practice dancing and create more music!
now that he thought about it, jeongguk has forgotten all about his industrious schedule when he's able to meet taehyung every morning.
it was as if they were both in elementary school again; saying goodbye and "see you tomorrow's" to their companions. jeongguk loved the feeling yet he didn't know what it was. he didn't know if the whirl in his stomach was from taehyung or something with an unknown source.
sometimes he laughed at himself when he thought of these types of things, finding 'love' a strange and cringe concept. jeongguk would much rather avoid it then endure a break up or spoil someone who could potentially take him for granted; probably the reason why he avoided women in the industry.
on the other hand, taehyung wasn't one to care about who he fell in love with and he already expected heart-wrenching moments from people he met. he was gay, after all.
gongju thought it was a shame; the fact that he'd been homosexual. she didn't care, however. she just thought that not many people in korea have interests in the same sex so it would be difficult for her best friend of fifteen years to find someone to love.
it brought tears to her eyes when taehyung pretended to be straight. they would lay down on the floor and listen to whatever channel was on the television. taehyung abruptly rambled about his struggles with his partner that he went on a date with. he would say that the girl he went out with was nice and lovable and how much he felt bad for looking bored.
then suddenly, the moment reminds her of the day, different setting, different age, when taehyung confessed.
flashback — ;
2003 june 15
"gongju, we're best friends, right?" taehyung asked as they lay down on gongju's living room carpet in front of the t.v.
"yes, taehyungie! of course." gongju exclaimed.
"you promise not to rat me out once i tell you what i want to say?"
"when have i ever ratted you out?"
"be quiet, okay?" taehyung scooted closer to gongju and whispered a surprising phrase into her ear. "i kind of like boys."
gongju softly gasped as taehyung scooted back to his original spot, "does that mean you have crushes on boys?"
the two looked at each other and taehyung smiled. he nodded slowly.
"we're still best friends, right?" taehyung asked, concern overtook his petite face.
"of course, taehyung! i will love you forever no matter who you love."
at that, the two smiled and closed their eyes, absorbing the calm atmosphere as the heaviness that weighed down taehyung's chest decreased.
end of flashback — ;
truthfully, gongju never cared whether taehyung liked the same gender. she just wished she could see him be joyful with someone who will take care of him and give him happiness.
so if you're out there i swear to be good to you
but i'm done lookin', for my future someone
cause when the time is right
you'll be here.— ;
