That night, Kenny didn't sleep a wink. There were children crying, groaning in pain. She and Rosaline mended as many wounds as they could in time. Still, there were newsies to tend to next door.

"Kenny," She heard.

"Spot," She sighed. "I wish I could be with you, but next door--"

"I know. Meet me in the morning if you can,"

<>

"Do you have a minute?" She asked after leaving the room that has now become a recovery ward.

Before Spot could even open his mouth, Racetrack was walking out of the lodge with Blink and Skittery.

"Spot, come on, we think they found a safe with all of Skid's treasure,"

"Kenny, I'm so--"

"Go, go," She said. "I should probably find Rosaline,"

"Find me later,"

<>

"Kenny--"

"Spot--"

"Can I--"

"Now's not a great time--"

"Kenny?" Skittery said expectantly.

"I'm coming,"

"Where are you two headed?"

"Tibby's, for a shipment full of food donated by some families,"

"And you need to go with him?"

"Kenny's the only one smart enough to take care of the stock lists and inventory and--"

"I think he gets it," She looks past Spot. "It's closing soon, though."

"Good luck,"

"To you too,"

<>

"Where do you want all these care packages?" Kloppman asked. "We have room up front, and we can pass them out individually?"

"That would be just fine, thank you."

Kloppman went to work with Jack and Skittery. Spot emerged from the room, sweaty and tired. He saw Kenny, and a window of time.

"Kenny, Rosaline needs help stitching." Sarah, who had graduated from school and was here to help, said.

Sighing, she replied: "I'm coming."

Spot rubbed the back of his neck, and leaned against the wall. Race saw this, and approached him.

"Not enough for you to do?"

"Very funny," Spot rolled his eyes.

"What a humble super-man, so willing to put other's needs before his own--"

"Race, you's a natural comedian, but is there a point ta this or are ya tryin' to annoy me?"

"I know you're frustrated because you can't be alone with Kenny,"

"Selfish, I know."

"I don't blame you," Race says. "It's been a while, and considering recent events, you two have a lot to discuss."

"Hell yeah we do,"

"Have you considered telling her why you left? Or, any of us, for that matter? Does Bucky even know--"
