Eden walked through the market looking for herbs in her favorite blue dress. She was going over what happened last night in her mind cause she still couldn't believe he tried to rape her cousin. Wasn't the first thirty two times enough. Eden wanted to slay the man for what he did but Dante said he needed him alive.
"What are you thinking about?" Eden was brought out of deep thought by..............Rafael. Eden eyes widen with shock, she was speechless before the Hunter she kept on stuttering. "Use your words Countess." Rafael chuckled.
"I'm sorry are you mocking me?" Eden pouted. "Maybe, maybe not..............." he said, then they just stood there staring into each others eyes for two whole minutes. Some of the people stood there watching, commenting on how cute they would be together and some saying that Eden was wicked for lusting after another man even though she was married which caught her attention. "Ooh mind your own business!" she yelled.
"So you didn't answer my question Countess." Rafael said still staring in her brown eyes.
"The names Eden and my cousin is going through some things."
"Okay Eden." They both moaned at the sound of her name rolling off his tongue. "Girl troubles?"
"Well not quite. They are these people who "want" him and one of them went about it the wrong way and found out things he shouldn't have." Eden explained trying to be cryptic.
"He?" Rafael raised an eyebrow.
Eden was about to take it back when she realised she messed up but Rafael assured her that it was alright.
"Yea but I really don't want talk about it." Eden lied. She really wanted to talk about it.
"It's okay but you know I'm here if you need anything." Rafael assured.
Eden got lost in his gray eyes for a while before realising she wasn't aiding Dante by flirting with mister dreamy, so she decided to change the subject. "Thanks but I need to ask you few questions that have been on my mind ever since you arrived in Gloire."
Eden often wondered what the Dumonts were but none of her books had information and Dante's descriptions were quite hazy until she saw them for herself last night. She knew she would hate herself for using him like this but she had to, so she took the opportunity that dangled before her. "Have you encountered other supernatural things besides witches?" asked hoping he didn't get suspicious.
"Yes. I have encountered kanimas, wraiths, soucouyants, abyzous and werewolves." The soucouyant was the only thing she recognised but the werewolf sounded promising so she asked about it. "They're basically people who can partially transform into wolves. They have claws, fangs and glowing eyes. They are really fascinating creatures."
"Do they have weaknesses? " Eden flashed a smile that stopped Rafael's heart for a moment.
Rafael was curious to know why she needed to know all of this but his infatuation for her erased the curiosity. "Wolfsbane but they don't grow in these areas so you're out of luck."
"Okay thank you so very much." Eden gave him chaste kiss and ran off to tell relay the new knowledge she gained leaving a perplexed hunter alone in the market.
"So that was Eden?" a cool tenor voice asked from behind the shadows of the stalls.
"Yes brother that is she."
"She's quite the beauty." the unknown man chuckled.
"Yes but she is bounded to another and I must honor that."
....................
Eden finally reached home to find a carriage outside her home and Dante with bags of clothes. In total confusion she asked what was going on and he told her he couldn't stay here anymore, he wanted a new life, in a new kingdom, with new people.
" I know that man tried to take advantage of you but that shouldn't be the reason you run away." Eden reasoned but he didn't attention to her. "My apologizes if I'm a little hurt but isn't our love for each other enough for you to stay? Dante?" Tears of sadness and anger formed in Eden eyes as the last bag was packed in the carriage.
"I intend no harm when I say this but it was our love that scarred me for life Eden. Good bye and take care of yourself." and with that Dante entered the carriage and rode off to his new destination.
Eden fell to the ground and wept causing the clouds blacken with her anger and the skies to rain with her grief.
The rain drops quickly froze as Dante harden his heart to block the pain of leaving the one constant thing in his life to find another.
