Chapter 3.
A week of school had gotten over and it was the weekend. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would go, but it wasn't really good either. The black haired girl who I talked to in the cafeteria, became my good friend. Her name was Tori. I'd made a bunch of friends, although I really missed my old ones. One of them had come to visit me. I had been really looking forward to this day.
I wore my usual combat boots and skinny jeans with a shirt. The weather was getting colder, so I decided to wear a warm coat with a scarf. My hair which was blonde had been left open was brushed tidily.
The doorbell rang and I knew it was her. I walked down and saw Ashley's cheerful face which glowed in happiness.
"Jean! I've missed you!" She came up and hugged me. I hugged her back and replied,"I missed you too Ash!"
I suggested to show her around town and instead of taking the car, we decided to walk. We soon reached town centre and I was listening to Ashley's mindless chatter about everyone back in London.
The trees were lined up on both sides of the footpath and and old leaves were falling down gently as we walked through. A gust of wind upset my hair and went all over my face.
I tucked my hair behind and and tried to pay attention. But I wasn't really concentrating.
I heard footsteps behind but I didn't really see anyone. I ignored the knotting feeling in my stomach. I heard footsteps again. I turn around and see the same curly haired boy which I saw the cafeteria. My eyes grow wide as I looked at him. I shake my head as I thought of the conclusions.
No, it couldn't be the same person.
I turned to look behind again but nobody was there. Ashley gave a questioning look but I shrugged it off. I increased my pace, making Ashley walk faster. We stopped near a coffee shop. I sat down on a table outside the cafe and motioned Ashley to sit down.
The waiter came and we gave our orders. Ashley raised her eyebrows and looked at me.
"What's wrong?"
I took a deep breath and said,"I have a feeling, someone might be following me."
Her eyes grew as big as saucers and said with excitement,"You mean stalking?"
I gave a slight nod.
She giggled and said giddily,"This is so exciting. You just moved to town and it's so interesting already!"
I rolled my eyes as the waiter came with our drinks. I picked it up and blowed on the foam to cool it. My eyes fall on Curly sitting on a table close by again and I observe him carefully. He was very attractive with his bright eyes and plumb lips. He had a defined jawline and looked pretty cute.
Ashley noticed my gaze and followed it. "Who are you staring at?"
I said softly, not breaking the eye contact with Curly,"The guy who had been following me around."
She craned her neck and looked around. "I don't see anyone."
I felt annoyed but I felt a pang of fright. "The curly haired boy sitting on the table near the plant."
Ashley looked at me and gave a confused look. "I don't see anyone."
I broke the eye contact. "Wait. You don't see him?"
She gave the 'DUH' look and I felt strange. I glanced back at him and saw he had disappeared.
Ashley looked irritated now. "You know if you don't wanna listen to me talk, you don't have to make up an imaginary stalker as an excuse."
She got up without finishing her drink and started walking. I kept the money for the drinks with a little tip and got up to follow her. I groaned and said,
"I'm sorry! And I didn't make it up!"
Ashley snorted. "Yeah right. Whatever."
She called a taxi and slammed the door before I could get it.
Without another word she left and I let out a curse. I had forgotten how damn sensitive she was. I shake my head and decide to make my way back. Curly comes into my view again and winks.
Getting frustrated, I walk up to him and this time he doesn't run away.
"Look here, I don't know what games you are playing following me around me but could you just give it a rest?"
He laughs at me and I ignore the butterflies in my stomach. I wait for him to answer back, but he just smirks at me. I notice that he had a silvery aura around him which gives me the chills.
"Well?" I answer, waiting for his reply.
He leans in closer until our faces are just inches apart. And I hear his raspy but velvety voice whispering into my ear,
"It has just started love."
