Chapter 4: First Day In The Woods

Katy and I walked out of the bus and saw a boy I never met hanging in a tree.

"How did he get in a tree...." I said.

"I-I dont know.." said Katy.

It was the boy with blond hair and blue eyes.

I looked away.

I looked toward Katy then at the sky it looked like it was at least 9:30 out.

"Do you know the name of these woods?" I asked Katy.

"Umm it's like not classified because it's so large. Not many people go into these woods though because of the dangers. We were supposed to be heading to some safe part of the woods that's been cleared but obviously we never got close to that spot because the bus crashed." She said in a sad voice.

I sat on the ground and said, "Okay so we're nowhere near civilization being it's been at least three hours since we stepped on that deathtrap of a bus....and we have no food, water, or shelter... what are we going to do?"

We both sighed and just sat there.

After about five minutes I said, "Katy, I think we should go and try to find a source of water. I mean I don't know about you but I'm really thirsty and we can't live without water."

"Yea," she said.

"And I'm really thirsty too."

I smiled and so did she.

We picked up our duffels and started walking straight, leaving the dreaded bus behind in search of water.

"Hey Katy," I said.

"Yea?"

"You know what this reminds me of," I said grinning.

"What," she said.

"The Hunger Games!!!" We both laughed until I heard a sound.

We both went completely silent and looked around us.

It sounded like....water!

"Katy!"

I looked over at her and she was smiling so I knew she also heard it.

"WATER!" We said together.

We started running toward the sound and found a small, little stream.

We both knelt down next to the clear, cold water and took handfuls and sipped.

It was the most delicious water I have ever drunken in my entire life...

It was like drinking heaven...

After we filled ourselves with cool stream water we splashed our face and laid back against a tree.

"Ahhh this is the life..." Said Katy, "Just sitting here.. silence all around and delicious water at our fingertips."

"Wait a minute Katy...Why is it so quiet...?"

All the birds had stopped chirping and all the noise that was here was the rusting sound of wind going through the leaves of the trees.

We stood up slowly and looked around.

Then we saw it.... a pack of wolves staring right at us.

We screamed and they ran toward us.

They were a good two miles away but they were running fast.

"CLIMB KATY CLIMB," I screamed at her as we started climbing the big oak tree we were leaning against.

We reached a high, stable branch and looked down.

The wolves were barking and hopping at the base of the tree.

I thought to myself....

Oh gosh how am I going to survive....?
