Alex's POV
"Mr K-Kenway... " I nervously stated.
"What did I say about this room? " He asked before clenching his jaw.
I'm dead. I'm so dead. Prepare my casket, dig my hole, for today, I shall perish.
"Miss Haytham! I'm talking to you! " He shouted. The thunder struck, totally not helping to calm me down.
Don't stutter. Don't show fear. It'll give him power.
"I'm s-so sorry, Mr Kenway. " I stammered. 'Great job.' My subconscious mocked.
"Are your ears for display only? " He cruelly asked.
"N-no, sir. " I nervously replied. I tried to discreetly hide the macabre letter but he immediately noticed my actions.
"What's that behind your back? " He inquired.
"N-nothing, sir." I lied. He didn't believe me. He began walking towards me, fear overcame my body and I was unable to move. Every step he took caused my heart to skip a beat.
"I will not ask again..." He began. "What are you hiding!" He shouted. I tried to prevent the tears that threatened to fall until I could no longer hold it.
He sped-walk towards me, grabbed both my shoulders and began vigorously shaking me.
I closed my eyes and shielded my head with my arms, my body's natural defense mechanism. I completely forgot that I was still holding the apology letter.
He stopped shaking me. Everything fell silent. His hands still firmly clutching my shoulders.
"Where did you get that?" He asked.
"On your d-desk, sir. Please don't kill me! I'm sorry, I just wanted to do something nice because you saved my life by not killing me! " I replied, all in one breathe.
What'll he do next?
Christopher's POV
Is that what I think it is? It's my letter. She read my letter. Couldn't she keep her nose out of my affairs!
"Where did you get that?" I sternly asked.
"On your d-desk, sir. Please don't kill me! I'm sorry, I just wanted to do something nice because you saved my life by not killing me! " she quickly replied.
Kill her? Why would I kill her? Did she not read the complete letter? She thinks I'm a murderer.
I stared around the room and then at her face. Her face was wet with tears and she looked extremely frightened. I hadn't realised how tight I was holding her shoulders until I felt her body begin shaking. I gently let go.
She didn't move. My office sure looked better better than before. I then saw her kind gesture. I frightened her for doing something nice.
I'm a monster. Look at her, trembling like an innocent puppy.
Then I did something I haven't done to anyone in a long time.
"I'm sorry, Alex. "
I apologised.
Her green eyes slowly opened. I put my hand on her head and brought her to my chest.
She stiffened. What am I doing? Her arms sunk to her down to her sides.
"I'm not a monster, Alex. I've never killed anyone. There has been a big misunderstanding. " I tried to coax her. She seemed to have turned to stone.
I was about to put my other arm around her when she immediately flinched and ran out.
I wasn't going to hurt her. I would never hurt her...
