ALEX'S POV

It's been a full month since my encounter with Christopher. He has been awfully quiet for someone who had such a big mouth a month ago.

It doesn't matter, though. Today is the day I start my internship at Frank & Co. I need no distractions.

I now live back in the city- the same city Compu Tech is in- Christopher's Compu Tech. I hoped I got a different branch, but for some reason they called and told me that's where I should be.

Out of all six branches.

Mr Topher has given me an apartment, as soon as I got my first paycheck I would pay for the rent. It's time I pay Mr Topher back for all his kindness.

He wanted to buy me a car, but I refused. There are many forms of public transport. Take now for instance, I'm currently on a public bus on my way to Frank & Co.

I put in my headphones and listened to music until I got to the bus stop. I walked for fifteen minutes and located the building.

It was big, not very welcoming, but big.

I checked in and was told I needed to go immediately to the bosses office on the top floor. Once I got their, I saw my two peers waiting outside Mr Frank's office.

"Aurora, Marco. Nice to see you two again." I greeted.

"Nice to see you're here all in one piece, Mrs Clumsy." Marco joked.

"Haha, Marc. Lovely to see you again, Ella. I'm really excited to work with you- definitely not Marco." Aurora teased.

"Don't I know the feeling too well." I replied causing Marco to shoot us a glare.

I seated myself down next to them, but moments later I was called in by Mr Frank himself.

I nervously walked in.

"Good day, sir. I'm Alex Haytham. " I greeted and extended my hand.

He took it with a somber expression.

"Mrs Haytham, I am honoured to have you here. You were top of your class. " He stated, still with a seemingly down expression.

"Yes, sir." I confirmed.

"Mrs Haytham, I'm sorry to tell you this..." He began.

Oh no, where is this heading...

"...but you will not be working at Frank and Co. I'm genuinely sorry." He finished, actually looking genuinely sorry.

"What, why?" I asked, trying to swallow the ball of rage I was feeling in my throat.

"It's..." He paused before answering, "...Mr Christopher Kenway." He ended off. Why was he so scared?

I should've known. This whole thing reeks of Christopher.

"Why did you agree? Can't you just refuse? " I asked.
