Christopher's POV

"I'm better off dead. " She wept. Her words struck me like a dagger. Standing outside the door might not have been the best idea. Why did her sobs affect me so much? Why does she feel worthless? Why does she speak to dolls?

Before I did something I would regret, I hastily walked to the front door. 'Eight-thirty, I'm nearly late for work.' I sighed and got into my car.

Once at work, I immediately went into the boardroom. My employees were already seated around the big, mahogany table- anxiously awaiting my arrival.

"Morning everyone." I greeted in a very blasé manner. Everyone nervously greeted back, probably too scared to leave their future boss hanging.

"Andrews, tell me about our company's productivity for the month." I ordered.

"Well, Mr Kenway... " He began. I anxiously awaited his response. "... productivity has gone down quite a bit... by 10 percent, to be exact. " He cautiously finished.

"What!" I yelled, causing everyone to jump.

"I'm sorry sir, not many people are into the new Compu Tech mobile phone. "He nervously responded.

"Don't blame the consumers, Andrews! Maybe if you knew how to sell a product, none of this would've happened! You incompetent excuse of a human being, the whole lot of you! " I viciously attacked him with my words.

I was enraged. The cruel switch in my brain flickered until it was fully turned on.

"If my father knew how poorly his employees acted, he would wake up from his coma, walk all the way to this building and fire every single one of you! "

And with that earful of distasteful words, I stormed out of the boardroom. Not caring about the rest of the meeting.

Meanwhile, at the Kenway residence.

I stared tediously around the room. All this monotony could kill someone. Every fibre of my being wanted to explore but I was too afraid. 'What if there are cameras? " I thought, my paranoia now fully settling in.

I shook off my delusions and got up. I opened the door, took one glance at the dark hallway and suddenly lost all my nerve.

I went back to the bed and began re-evaluating my life. I began questioning why I'm remaining at Mr Kenway's home. I could leave at anytime, but I'm not. If I feared him so much, why am I still here?

Puzzled by my thoughts, I began to fall asleep.

Meanwhile, at Compu Tech Industries.

My office is messy again. How will I work in this chaos? My thoughts then drifted to something more hopeful or should I say someone?

Alex, she looked so angelic. Her beautiful curls falling all the way down to her tiny waist. The white dress complimented her skin tone beautifully. However, I couldn't seemed to ignore how much she loved that doll.

Excuse me, action figure.

I smiled when I remembered how she sweetly she corrected me. She instantly took it back, though. She must be really afraid of getting hurt. She's such a mystery, a puzzle. Her innocence can be compared to that of a child. I don't think she ever learned how to be mature. She was probably mistreated and pushed down her entire life.

Realising I've wasted way too much time wondering about Alex, I began getting on with my work.

Back at the Kenway residence

I awoke to the sound of thunder. I immediately sprung up to close the window, rain droplets were covering my face and I have never felt more alive.

I decided to explore the house, scared as I was. I searched through the room and discovered a flashlight. The dark hallway seemed less scary with the little flash of light beaming through.

I walked down the long corridor, passing doors and wondering what each door held secret.

I then stumble upon a very strange looking door. The deep redish-black wood seemed thicker than the rest.

'Curiouser and curiouser' I thought, amused by my Alice in Wonderland quote.

I couldn't contain my curiosity any longer.

I slowly turned the doorknob and with one click the door opened.

I was stunned by what I saw next.
