Meanwhile, back at Alex's place.
ALEX'S POV

"Pants, t-shirts, toothbrush... " I rummaged through my room looking for every possible necessity as quickly as I could. I shoved everything into my bag, occasionally stopping whenever I heard a noise, until I was finally ready.

"Goku action figure- check." I clasped the spikey-haired hero. He was a gift from my dad. He always told me that Goku would protect me if he ever failed to do so. I miss my dad.

Taking one last glance at my "room", I ran to the front door, determined to get my life back.

There was no bus stops for about a few miles, how was I going to get to the train station?

'I could hitchhike.' I spontaneously thought. I wish! I was way too timid to do something like that.

After walking for 30 minutes, I finally reached a train station. So many choices. I decided to choose best sounding city. I've seen what it was like in the movies but I've never been there.

I purchased my ticket, got in the train and waited for it to start moving. The carriage was empty. I shook off the uneasy feeling that came over me and slowly began to give into my fatigue.

"Your life will get better... " I whispered to myself before being swept away into a peaceful almost-sleep.

Suddenly, I heard my name being called. It was loud, it was hoarse and worst of all- it was not happy. I immediately got up. I looked for hiding spots but it was too late. Steven was in front of me, I swear I could see demons floating around in his eyes. The smell of alcohol was his aura, his anger was his strength.

"Alex... " he slurred. "Running away I see...didn't I treat you well enough?"

"N-no, Sir. I mean, yes sir. I mean, n-no. " I stumbled over my words like a baby walking through glass.

"You ungrateful little whore!" His balled up fists now striking almost every part of my body. After one bloodcurdling scream I began to hear footsteps running towards us. Two security guards rushed towards us to stop Steven.

This is why I never wanted to run away in the first place, no matter where I'd go, he would find me. One of the security guards took him away while the other stayed with me.

"Are you okay? " He gently asked.

"I'm alright. " I lied with a weak smile , I did not want anything to jeopardise me moving to the city. I kept my conversation brief. I did not want him to know all about my life.

He finally left to call an ambulance and that's when the train began to blow out steam. The door automatically closed and it started moving. I could've ran out but my life is finally beginning and not even pain could stop me.

Meanwhile, back at Compu Tech Industries. Christopher's POV

'This load doesn't look like it's getting any lighter.' I thought to myself, and with one tiresome sigh, I decided to get up.

"I can't find anything underneath this mess!" I angrily yelled. Enraged by the mess, I threw my office phone across the room.

'One, two, three... ' I continued in my head, hoping that it would put out the flames in my heart. I decided that I've worked too much for one night. I opened the drawer to retrieve my car keys, only to stumble upon a framed picture of my mom and little sister.

"God rest your souls. " I brokenly said. 'If it weren't for me, you both would still be here. ' My sadness turned to rage. I had to get out of here before I trash my office... again.

Meanwhile, back at the train station.
ALEX'S POV

I've finally arrived. The abrupt stopping of the train immediately woke me up. I quickly got out and looked for a bathroom. When I found one, I stared at my face in the mirror. My eye was purple and my cheeks were bloody.

My green eyes lost the glimmer it once had. Taking one last look at myself, I began to rinse my face off. I started to look a better.

'Now, where to go first?' I thought.

I began walking around. My body felt weak from the beating I got and I started to feel woozy. I stopped at a traffic light. I was hopelessly too weak to lift my head so I just continued walking.

I was then in for a shock, a car came speeding towards me. It noticed me enough to push the brakes in time, but not enough from giving me a little bump in the side. My body couldn't take anything anymore and I began giving into the darkness.

A few moments earlier.
CHRISTOPHER'S POV

I have to get out of here. I got into my car and sped down the highway, my mom and sister still plaguing my thoughts. I must've been too caught up in my emotions that I did not see the shorter- than- average woman about to cross the street.

I immediately hit the brakes, but it was not soon enough. I gave her a hit in her side. Not too hard, but it seemed to have had an effect on her.

"Crap... " I whispered.

I ran out of the car only to discover a decent looking girl laying in front of my car. Upon closer inspection, I noticed that her face was badly bruised. That couldn't have been me.

I picked her up, her long, curly hair cascading down her back, and brought her to my car.

Leaving her for dead would ruin my credibility. If people found out I did, they wouldn't invest in my company.

Angrily sighing, I put her in my car and drove off to my private home.
