Sam stared at Dean, his mouth dry, not able to say a word.

"Sam, what the hell is this?!" Dean almost shouted and threw the wooden box on the floor, causing it to open. Two of the feathers fell out of the box, landing on the cold ground and Dean couldn't help but fall on his knees and gently put them in his hand, softly stroking them like they could break anytime. He could feel his eyes fill with tears and shook his head. All this time he was trying to get over losing Cas, and just when he thought he might finally move on, everything comes back, all the pain and fear returns.

"D-Dean, I... He's not back," Sam said quietly. Watching his brother go through all the pain again was killing him, but he knew Dean had to find out eventually.

Dean looked up, tears rolling down his cheeks, his eyes empty.

"Don't you dare lie to me. After everything I've done for you, show me a little respect and don't lie to my face, Sam. I know him. These are from his wings. Now how about you tell me what the hell is going on here?" Dean growled, feeling the rage boiling inside of him.

"I don't- I-... It's not the Cas you know, Dean," Sam shook his head and looked away. "We've been tracking him for three months, he's... He's not himself. He's not even trying to hide, leaving dead bodies everywhere he goes, killing whole families for no reason,..." he sighed and looked back at Dean.

The older man looked gave him a puzzled look. "Wait... If he's not himself, then...What is he?"

Sam shrugged, frowning. "We have no clue. But... This has been going on for three moths. Three months, Dean. Hundreds of people have died and we haven't done anything because... You know, it's Cas. But... We have to stop him. No matter what it takes," he said, looking directly in Dean's eyes.

"Are you saying we have to...Kill him?"

~flashback~

It was a hot summer and they just got back to the hotel they were staying at after finishing a hunt. Sam walked inside and immediately went to the bathroom to take a shower, leaving Cas and Dean alone in the room.

Dean sighed and fell on the bed.

"Dean? Are you okay?" Cas was worried and sat next to him, stroking his hair gently.

"We could've saved her. Maybe if we just-"

"Stop. We couldn't do anything and you know it. We did save her, she was suffering for so long she would've probably go crazy once we saved her anyway. Dean, you can't save everyone," the angel layed next to him and nuzzled into Dean's chest.

But all Dean could think about was the girl's scream, her eyes going black one last time before they closed forever, a single tear rolling down her face as she whispered a quiet "thank you" and one last breath escaped her lips.

"Cas, if something happened... I'd want you to do it. Promise you'd do it for me," Dean sat up and looked into Cas' blue eyes. "Dean, it won't-"

"Promise, Cas. Promise you wouldn't let me hurt anyone," he said quietly with a serious face.

"I..." Cas shook his head and looked down. He knew Dean needed to hear it. After all, if he'd ever get possesed, he'd want Dean to do the same. The thought of hurting people, even if it wasn't really him, frightened him.

"Promise. Would you do the same for me?" he looked up and Dean nodded. He didn't have to say, in fact he wasn't able to say it. The thought of something bad happening to Cas was his worst nightmare, he couldn't bare the though of losing him.

Cas leaned forward and kissed Dean's soft lips gently, smiling into the kiss.

"I love you," he whispered and looked in Dean's beautiful sparkly green eyes.

"Love you too, babe," Dean smiled and kissed Cas' forehead before getting out of the bed as he heard Sam leaving tje bathroom.

"I'm going to the shower, you wanna join?" he smirked at Cas and unbuttoned his shirt teasingly slow.
