Dean's jaw dropped. For a second, he couldn't breathe. All the eyes were fixed on him, waiting for his reaction. But he couldn't do anything.
He couldn't speak, he couldn't move, his mind went blank as he stared at the person who he used to love. Nothing's changed. Cas' hair was still messy like on those lazy sunday mornings when they were just cuddling in the bed, his lips were parted in an amused smirk he used to do whenever Dean got frustrated with him, his left eyebrow raised just like it used to when he found something funny. Even his old, long trenchcoat looked the same, hanging on his shoulders, and for a moment, Dean thought things were good again. He allowed himself to think that the past few months were just a nightmare.
"C-Cas.." he whispered and his voice cracked. Then he felt a strong grip on his shoulder and when he turned around, he saw Sam looking at him with love and fear mixed all together, silently begging him to remember the reason they're here, to snap out of his little daydream about a happy ending to their story.
Tears were running down his face when he turned back to Cas, but his eyes were now filled with strenght and love.
"Cas, I... I know you're somewhere in there and.." his voice cracked and he took a deep breath before he continued, "..I swore, you know? You remeber? I swore I won't let anything bad happen to you and I failed. I... I guess that's just what I do, dissapoint the people I care about, and I want you to know that I am sorry. But this is not you, man. You don't wanna be like this-"
"For god's sake, just stop. When did you become such a chick-flick expert?" Cas cut him off in an annoyed voice. "You have no idea, Dean. I was stupid. I was so stupid to think that this is bad. I'm powerful, so much more powerful than before, I'm stronger, faster, my reflexes are thousand times better,...Plus, I can read minds," he finished with a smirk and looked at the other two men, who were now starimg at him blankly, trying not to show any emotions.
"Oh come on Sam, he'll get over it...
I wouldn't do that Bobby, knives don't work on me" he smirked even more and cocked his head.
Dean couldn't help but stare, disgust and anger mixing in him, thinking how could he ever think this monster is the man he loved. But there was still that little part of him thinking maybe he could fix him, maybe he could-
"Bobby!" Sam shouted as the older man flew across the room and hit the wall hard. Before he got to do anything, he was thrown at the window and his vision went black as he hit the window frame.
"Well, that's better. Now it's just me and you, Dean. Just like the old times, don't you think?" Cas stepped closer and looked the hunter in the eyes. "Oh come on, I know you're not gonna kill me. You're too weak, too scared. You've always been. Too weak to say no to your papa, too weak to save your brother,.." he pouted and furrowed his eyebrows.
"I'm gonna kill you," Dean growled at the other man, rage boiling in him.
"I don't think so, babe," Cas responded with a sweet smile and before Dean even realized what's happening, a strong arm wrapped around his neck and held him tight until he stopped fighting and his vision went black.
