Fearless

Chapter 1

The bus station is full of other teens like me. Other teens who are waiting for there fate.

"Jade?" Amaris says

"Yeah?" I say

"Where are your family? aren't they coming too?" She asks

"Yes they are coming but later, what about yours?" I ask

"They are coming late too" Amaris says.

From the corner of my eyes, I spot Tyler sitting alone on the wooden bench waiting for the bus too.

Tyler and I are friends since high school. But life did cause us to drift apart and see each other less.

I walk towards Tyler and sit down next to him.

"Hey" is all what I manage to say

"Hey, it's been so long since we have talked", Tyler says,

"Yeah true that, so what's up?" I ask

"Life is good till now, what about you?" Tyler speaks.

"Life is fine. It's just I am nervous, what if I have more than 8 fears?" I say,

"I know you won't have, so stop being nervous" Tyler says

"Ugh okay" I sigh as the bus nears us. I end up sitting next to Amaris and Tyler.

"Boys and girls or shall I say ladies and gentle men, welcome to the Fearious. As we all know, every year, this ceremony is held to congratulate all of those who have successfully completed their evaluation. First, all of you will have your turns in the Arena and then, your results will be announced in the Fearious ceremony. So let's keep going, and the first one to be doing this simulation fear is going to be..." A blonde woman says as she picks a piece of paper out of the glass bowl in her hand, they must be using random sampling,

"Amaris Williams" she says and Amaris looks at me fear swimming in her eyes,

I hold her hand and tell her it will be alright and she goes with the woman.

More teens go in and out. Some come out smiling, some come out paralyzed by fear.

"Jade Emerson" the woman calls out my name and I step out of the crowd. Tyler raises his thump up in an attempt to calm me down.

Once I am inside a all white room, the woman attaches wires to my head,

"Be brave" she says,

And I am lost in my head.
