This book is set at a boarding school, a unisex one in east England. All students are confiscated of their phones on their first days back from holidays.

Now, it's the group's last year and the place; and Simon Minter, a very introverted boy, starts to have problems with himself and his family.

He thought the problems would vanish the minute he returned back to school to see all his friends again.

Things only get worse for him there, as he attempts to completely isolate himself from everyone else.

Although most of Simon's friends are forgiving of him seeking his own company; his best friend, Joshua Zerker is not having it. He is adamant on discovering what has gotten the boy so cold this year.

So, he decides to slip him notes through a crack in his dorm's wall, as Simon is only on the other side.
