A Confused Heart

"(Y/N), that move at the end where you hit Rin with two shots was amazing!" Nagisa yelped. "He just shifted to the right and got drenched!"

You smiled proudly, but it slowly faded as you peaked over at Rin who was scowling at Nagisa. He quickly went back to chatting with Makoto and Rei.

The water fight had ended a little while ago and everyone decided to have a fire that had been set up for the ending of the festival.

You had constant thoughts lingering in your mind from the water fight. It didn't make any sense to why you felt slightly saddened by the result.

You should have been enthralled with happiness since you wouldn't have to kiss Rin, however you weren't and it pissed you off.

You did know why you were upset, but you wouldn't admit it to yourself.

"(Y/N), have you decided on what Rin's punishment will be?" Makoto asked.

Rin locked eyes with you, awaiting for your response.

"Haven't decided yet, but I assure you it will be horrible."

Rin raised an eyebrow, but the both of you then smiled at each other.

"Stop reminding me that I lost! Honestly, I was the only strategic one out there." Rei gawked, crossing his arms.

"Sore loser!" Nagisa giggled, faking a cough.

Rei was about to pounce on Nagisa, but Makoto got between them first.

"Calm down guys!" Makoto laughed. "We don't want injuries two nights before Regionals."

"Wait, the tournament is that close?" You stammered, forgetting all about it.

"(Y/N), come on!" Rei remarked. "Actually that has me thinking that we should get some sleep or Gou will kill us."

"I agree! If we want to win and go forward, than we've got to get some rest to kick ass!" You announced, throwing a fist into the air.

Everyone looked at you with expressions that indicated that you were being judged.

You huddled into the grass, embarrassed by your sudden overly excited change in attitude.

Time Skip

As the night came to end, all of you headed to the entrance of the school to return home.

The Iwatobi team faced the Samezuka Academy swimmers under the dim light of a lamp post.

"Next time we meet each other will be at the competition." Rin spoke.

"We're going to crush you in medley relay!" Nagisa cheered.

"I will finally win my heat in butterfly!" Rei bragged with determination.

"Don't be too confident." Rin grinned.

Everyone started heading in separate directions to either the streets or the dormitories.

It was only you and Rin left, staring at each other under the flickering light.

"What races are you competing in?" Rin asked.
