Yesterday wasn't only painful from your injury, but it made you even more confused about your possible feelings for Rin.

Hope my fist won't sting in the chlorine, you thought, making your way into the massive swimming arena where regionals was taking place.

Rin kept checking on you and asking if you were alright, which was getting rather annoying, but at the same time it made you feel protected.

"(Y/N), my events starting soon, you better pay attention!" Nagisa demanded cheekily. "Because I've notice you've been dozing off a lot lately."

You rolled your eyes at Nagisa's remark.

"Wish me luck!" Nagisa chirped, scurrying to a change room.

It wasn't long until the nerves began to kick in.

You were pacing back and forth in the women's changing room, awaiting for your race to begin.

You had performed decently in backstroke earlier, but didn't make the cut.

You were leaning on a locker with your swimsuit on.

I don't think I can beat Haru, but I have to give it my all.

Suddenly, you heard someone entering the room. You could here water dripping onto the ground.

You turned to face someone who wasn't recognizable due to the dark lighting, but a hunch made you know who it was.

"(Y/N), I just came to check if you were alright to compete concerning yesterday." Rin asked.

You looked up at him with a soft smile.

"I appreciate you checking up on me, but don't worry," you said, lowering your sight to the floor. "I'm more anxious for the race right now."

You looked back at up him and noticed a smug sneer appear on his mouth.

"It's understandable that you'd be nervous since your racing against me."

When you heard the cockiness in his voice, your nerves passed. You pursed your lips and your eyebrows furrowed.

You snickered under your breath

"What?"

"It's hilarious that you think you can beat Iwatobi." You grinned.

"I don't think I can beat Iwatobi," He answered. "I know I can beat you."

You stared at him, then grabbed his wrist and pulled him out of the change room.

"We'll see about that!"

It didn't occur to you that you'd be racing in the same heat with not only Rin, but Haru against you as well.

"Swimmers in heat two make your way to your assigned starting block!" The announcer broadcasted onto speakers.

You took a deep breath and shifted towards the edge of the pool where the blocks were. Your lane was coincidently right in the centre next to Rin.

He smiled confidently at you, then took off his tracksuit to display his toned body and long tight swim trunks.

You goggled at him for a moment, but shook your head and stepped onto the block.

Don't think about that right before a race!

"Good luck, (Y/N)." You heard Rin whisper, placing his swim cap over his dampened maroon hair.

You glanced at him with surprise, unassured on whether he wanted you to hear that.

But he just stared out at the pool, squeezing his goggles over his swim cap, then slapping the rubber band supporting them once, before getting into his starting position.

"Take your mark!" A referee addressed to the participants.

(Y/N), come one! Stop getting distracted.

You shoved your messy hair into the black swim cap you held and fitted your goggles over your eyes.

You then bent down, placed your hands on the tip of the block and stuck your lower back into the air.

"Get ready!" The referee yelled, raising the starting pistol he was holding in the air.

BAM!

The alarming sound from the gun made you kick off the block, along with the other swimmers.

You hit the chlorine-filled water and felt it wrap around you with the noises in the arena fading away. You then glided towards the surface for breath and swung both arms over your body to start your stroke.

You picked up speed as your energy kicked in.

You locked eyes with the opposite wall of the pool as you advanced towards it. You somersaulted and used the force of your legs to kick against it to change directions back to your starting block.

You suddenly felt at ease, yet you pushed yourself with everything you had building up.

You stretched out your arm and hit the wall hard.

You flew out of the water, gasping for air.

The crowd roared as the race came to an end.

Your vision was blurry when you took off your goggles, but you directed your vision at scoreboard and scowled.
