It was the day you had been anticipating since the beginning of your training with the Iwatobi swim team.

You felt tension continuously rising, even though you weren't participating, you had an uneasy feeling. You knew it wouldn't stop until the starting gun was shot.

But the nervousness of the competition wasn't your biggest problem.

There was an excessive amount of thinking and questioning since you last saw him.

"It's finally happening!" Rei exclaimed.

You were engulfed in your thoughts and didn't even take notice to step into the stadium everyone was walking into.

"Especially after all of your hard work!" Gou beamed, patting your shoulder. "Let's go win!"

You flinched, believing it was someone else for a moment.

"(Y/N), are you okay?" Makoto questioned.

"Yes! I'm just nervous to watch the race!" You answered, eyes swerving.

"Come on! Let's get a seat before the bleachers pack up!" Gou said, pulling you away. "We can all take a breather before the boys compete!"

You all sat in the front row of the bleachers. The boys started prepping for their races by chugging water and warming up their muscles.

"(Y/N), aren't you excited to see your boyfriend!" Nagisa shouted, allowing everyone to hear.

Your eyes bulged wide.

Everybody shifted their attention towards you, not only your team, but other competitors as well.

You tried to fight back at Nagisa's comment, but your throat had constricted.

"Wait, you are actually dating, Rin?" Rei gasped.

"No! Stop accusing me!" You barked.

Everyone gave you questionable looks, excluding Gou who could see right through you.

"(Y/N), you don't seem like yourself?" Makoto whispered into your ear.

You forced a smile.

"I'm going to go get some air... I'll be back soon!" You announced, pouncing out of your seat.

You walked across the wet pool deck, trying not slip and turned a corner to walk out the large glass entrance.

You were alone outside, since all of the competitors were already in the stadium.

You headed towards a bunch of trees close to the building and leaned on a fence next to it.

You let out a breath of air.

Rin... I can't face him.

You slapped your hands on your face.

"What do I do!" You said out loud.

"(Y/N)? What're you doing out here?"

You spotted Sosuke, Momo and Nitori standing before you without Rin.

"Where's the rest of your team?" Sosuke asked.

"They're warming up. I just wanted some air before the medley race! I still get nervous watching," You began. "Where's Rin?"

"He'll be here soon," Sosuke explained. "I think he's getting in his competition headspace, if that makes sense?"

"Nitori, I need to see Gou!" Momo yelled, pulling him to right.

"Don't pull my arm that hard!" Nitori whimpered. "It hurts!"

They both headed into the stadium, leaving you and Sosuke alone.

Sosuke leaned onto the fence next to you.

"Have you and Rin confessed yet?"

You jumped up in shock.

"What? That's the most ridiculo-"

You stopped mid sentence and lowered your head to hide your flushed face.

"How do you know about this?"

"It's obvious!" He laughed. "Also, he gets jealous whenever I'm around. Have you told him how you feel?"

You shook your head.

"Well, I think you should, because you already know how he feels."

Sosuke walked away in the direction where Momo and Nitori ran off.

"I'll see you later, (Y/N)! Good luck with him!"

Sosukes remark resonated within you. Your mindset changed immediately and you felt your mind become clearer.

I like him, you thought, sliding your back down the fence to sit on the grass.

You then noticed someone from the distance sprinting into the stadium.

"Rin!"

You didn't mean to shout out his name, but the words spilled out of your mouth.

He stopped running and faced towards your direction.

You stood up from where you sat and advanced towards him in front of the entrance.

You felt anxious with him there, but all the other feelings that haunted you had disappeared.

"(Y/N)? What're you do-"

"I need to talk to you." You interjected, staring at his widened red eyes.

He was attired in his Samezuka Academy swim team tracksuit and had his hair pulled up into a bun. He had beads of sweat on his eyebrows, which were furrowed.

You knew what you wanted to say, but it was difficult to get the words out.

Is this the right time to do this? No, I have to tell him how I feel, you thought, feeling your chest become heavy.

"I-I-"

Before you could speak, Nagisa bursted through the glass doors in front of you both, almost tripping over himself.

"(Y/N)!" He panted with an expression of fear plastered on his face. "We need you to swim in the medley relay!"
