"What do you mean, we're going to go on the roof tops to avoid zombies?" Rose asked as we all climbed the stairs
"Excatly what you think I mean." Antonio said
We were huffing and puffing as we climbed up ten stories. We were carrying ten pound weapons up flights of stairs. I weaved a great sigh as we reached the top of the building and got outside.
I breathed in the fresh, polluted air that made me gag. I looked at the dull gray city below. We weren't up high compared to the other buildings, but when you looked down, it was enough to creep you out. The cars were dead, in the noiseless wasteland. Not a creature stirring except us."Okay," Antonio said not tiered out, "You take a rest and I'll scout out the best route to take down."
We all sat down and got out our limited food and water supply. I rationed my supplies so they would last longer than everyone elses and I could use them in emergencys. I knew we had to find supplies fast. All the stores would probably be full since this problem only started. We would have fresh suppies we haven't had in weeks. We would have milk and fruit and meat. The thought made my mouth water, when I was interupted.
"Great view, eh?" Antonio asked eyeing the city with binoculares
"Huh?"
"I said it's a nice veiw." he said
"Not really," I disagreed, "All I see havoc."
"Really? You guys are strange." he said
"For always looking on the bad side?" I asked
"No, just in general." he said pointing behind me
I looked behind me to see everyone socializing and happy. And then I see Blain, bowing to a muffin, with eight pugs around him.
"Yeah, Blain is a little strange, but everyone else is cool. You just have to get to know them." I said
"No, that's not going to happen. I don't socialize. I'm a private guy and I intend to keep it that way." he said, "Okay everybody, lets go!"
I looked at him and I agreed with Blain. He's not weird, but he is a little suspicious.
"Hey, little lady? What was your name again?" he asked
"Rose."
"Well hang tight because here we go!"
"Ha! How are you going to get across?" Blain asked
"I spent a bit on my daddy's ranch. I know a thing or two." Antonio said getting out his laso
He took the rope off this back and threw it. There was a crane between the two buildings and it caught. He hugged Rose and while holding her he jumped off the building. The two swung over the cravas, to the other side. The rope held and the crane was steady. They made it over and jumped onto the building. The rope came back and Leah caught it and got ready to swing.
"Whoooo wee! That right there was the best, darn tootinest swung I've done." he said laughing
Leah leaned off the building and fell into the air. The rope tightened and she swung over. She came over the other building and jumped off.
"Your turn." I said to Blain
"I don't know why we can't just our gadgets." he said
"Antonio is new. Give him a chance. Make him feel important." I said
"That was creepy. You just sounded like my counselor."
"You have counseling?"I asked
"Don't talk about it." he said as he put the pugs in a large backpack
He let the rope go and then flipped into midair. As he got around he grabbed the rope. My heart skipped a beat as I though I lost my best friend over a careless stunt. He swung over and jumped as he was over the building. I grabbed the rope when it came to me. I looked over the edge uneasily. I closed my eyes and jumped. I felt the gravitational force on my body as it pulled me toward earth. I gripped the rope with fear and I was tugged forward. I smiled as the breeze hit me and I gazed down on the streets. I was a foot from when I was to jump, when I heard a snap. Everything was moving in slow motion. I felt the floor drop and I slid down the rope. The group yelled for me to jump, but it was to late. The rope was going back, away from them. I looked up and saw a sharp piece of stainless steel and a bit of the rope cut. I was literaly hanging from a thread. The rope was cut from the sharp steel. I started going forward again. I felt my hot, sweaty, bloody and burning hands. The rope was dreanched with the blood from my hands. I was at the end when I jumped. The rope snapped after, and I knew I wouldn't make it. I reached out for something I could grab.
But there was nothing. And I plummited down the cravas of dispare.
