I tried tilting on my back, desperately needing the knife. I was willing to do anything. I shook my legs back and forth, as it started to slide out. It clattered to the floor with a metalic thud. I grabbed it quickly and hoped nobody heard the racket. I took it out of it's holdster and started to saw it against the ropes. I slowly made process, but a few seconds later my arms and hands were free. I started on my feet and happily and anxiously cut the ropes. I got up and rubbed my wrists from the discomfort of them rubbing against my skin. I attached the knife and holdster to my belt and walked around. I was surronded by boxes, boxes and more boxes.
"Cardboard, wooden, metal, plastic? Maybe they should start a create museium." I joked
I heard a small muffled, cry from across the room behind a pile of, you guessed it, creates. I took out my trusty, sturdy knife and got ready. I slowly peeked at what was behind the creates, my heart was pounding and adrenaline was rushing through my body. I jumped at the silloettte. I was within range and looked closer. It was John and the kid from the group of three traitors, Sam. I cut the ropes and removed the duct tape that covered their mouths.
"Hey, ow that hurt!" John complained
They stood up and I pointed my knife at the boy. He was suprised, and slowly put up his hands. I cornered him up to a wall and he was flat against it. His head was back and my blade was at the center of his neck. He still had his hands up and gulped down every strand of resilliance he had. He didn't complain or fight, in fact he was calm, almost like he knew that was what he diserved.
"Hey, come on. Let's be reasonable about this." John said calmly, "Don't kill him. That's spilling unnessicary blood."
"We can't trust him. You remember what he did last time? I was lucky to have an extra knife. What if next time I don't?"
"We could use him as a hostage OR information."
I looked at him suspicously. He knew what he was doing. I lowered my knife and slowly put my knife away. The boy put his hand to his neck and wiped away sweat from his brow with the other.
"Okay, Sam, I want you to tell us all you know. If you screw up then I can take the knife out faster than you can say opps."
"I don't know much." he whispered like a mouse, "They didn't even tell me that we were going to give you guys up. I wasn't trusted. All I was used for was my intellect and skills with tools."
"Your an engineer?" I asked
"Yeah," he nodded, "Last time they put me to a test. They told me false infromation that they were going to kill someone. I warned the person and I failed the test. All they wanted was tools and weapons."
"Hear that John? Looks like you got compatition." I laughed
"Dully noted." he mumbled
He rolled his eyes, knowing that someone could be nowhere nearing his intellect. He listened closely and combed back his hair.
"I only followed them around because I didn't have anywhere else to go." he whspered
"What about the reason S.T.E.A.L wants Blain?" I asked anxiously
"No. Remember they didn't even tell me about S.T.E.A.L?"
"Oh yeah." I remembered, "Well, what about your team mates?"
"There's not much to them. Their life is profit, and the profit is their life. They'll do anything for money. They work together and never split up. They can be equaly deadly or witty as any of your teammates, even John."
"But, I noticed their weird behaviour."
"But did you confront them?" he asked
"No."
"See, if you don't confront them then they act almost normal. When you confront them, then their plan is messed up and they crumble."
"Very interesting." John said sarcasticaly, "But if you don't mind, I'm going to escape."
He stood at every corner of the room and stopped at a fence. He looked it up and down, slowly examning it. He looked over on the other side and saw an elevator.
"This is a waste of time, just climb it." Sam said proudly
"Either you want us to get caught, or you arn't as smart as you think. These guys, tripled the padlocks and put motion sensors so we would trigger the alarm if we went over it. My moto is, if you can't go over, under, or around the problem, then go straight through it. In this case literaly."
A small sound of snipping was coming from the other side of the fence. I looked over to see Sam clipping the wires of the fence. He was slowly making a circle with a small pair of scissor like tools.
"What are those?" I asked
"These are a hardcore, heavy-duty, pair of trimers, sharpened with a Co2 laser." he smiled
I heard a soft clang of metal from behind me. I turned around to see that John had cut a hole in the fence already, and was on the other side.
"Man, how did you do that so fast? What did you use? Almost nothing beats my trimers! It was sharpened with a Co2 laser!"
"Co2 laser." John smiled waving it around
Humiliated Sam, John and I got into the elevator. It was a nice sized elevator maybe enough for ten or twelve. The buttons were covering one side of the wall next to the door. There was five floors, but what realy interested me was the card key, reader.
"Man, we don't have a card! We are so screwed!" I said
"Not nessicarily." John smiled giving me a card
"Where did you find this?" I laughed
"The guard that carried us down there. I stole his key when he tied me up."
I took the card and swiped it in the slot and chose the second floor. I took out my knife and held it up to Sam's throat.
"Hey!" he exclaimed
"Your a hostage, remember?"
The doors closed and we began our asent to the next worst thing.
