I was finaly satisfied with the distance that we had traveled and sat down. Everyone followed my lead and set up camp. I was on for watch duty tonight, which I wasn't looking forward to. Nobody knew about Zac, and I was going to keep it that way. I set up my sleeping bag next to the warmest place of the fire. I took out some of the food I stole and started to chow down.

"Don't eat that. You can use it for emergency food, anyways Leah went to get some." Rose said softly without looking up

I threw it back into my bag and tried to ignore my rumbling stomach. Rose came by and put her hand on my shoulder. Not only was she the nurse, but in my greatest time of need, she was my counsler. She helped me get over my brother's death and has helped me when I felt down.

"You should go talk to Sam." she suggested

I didn't want to talk to him. He led my friends into danger and couldn't be trusted. But when I saw him set up his sleeping bag away from us and the fire, I started to pity him. Rose looked over at me and smiled. I smiled back and acknowledged that he was only a kid too. I grabbed my spare pistol and walked over to him. He saw me coming with the gun in my hand and was alarmed, but didn't move. I stood infront of him towering over him. Then I gave him the gun.

"I'm only giving this to you in case you need to defend yourself. You show hostality towards us and I'll... just don't do it." I said, "If you want your invited over to the fire."

"Nah. I'm not cold." he said silently

At that moment Leah came with the food. I returned to the fire and we all distruibuted it evenly. I threw Sam some food and he started opening everything. I saw him blow into his hands and rub them, trying to heat them up. I stood up and walked over to him again.

"It's winter, and night. Those two things are enough to make anyone cold. Come one. You may be a hostage, but if we are offering you something, you don't need to reject it, just to look cool." I told him

He nodded and started to gather his stuff. I helped him, by grabbing his bag, when something fell out. It was a picture of him, smiling with some people. I was about to pick it up, when he jumped at it and hugged the photo to his chest, carful not to scratch it.

"Don't touch that! Don't you ever touch it!" he yelled

The others, looked at me suspicously and wondered what I did this time. The boy took me by suprise. He was always quiet and a burst of anger and rage hit me hard.  I backed up and gave him his space. I put his bag down and he sat next to me. I didn't talk, and neither did anyone else.

"I'm sorry," he apologized, "It's just that this is the last thing I have to remember my family by. My house burned down a while ago. That's why I joined up with Nate."

Rose handed him a hot chocolate and wrapped him in a blanket. I didn't know whether he was trying to make me pity him on purpose, but if he was it was working. But then something gave me an idea. If I had a lightbulb floating over my head, it would be shining brighter than the sun. I took my bow off my back and got out two arrows. Blain, John, Leah and Rose knew what I was doing and the others looked around, as if I was going to shoot something. I looked at Blain and Rose who were sitting up with a blanket around them. They gave me a nod and I shot the two arrows up. I knew that almost all the Grown-Ups were gone and that we were the last thing that S.T.E.A.L wanted to see right now. A blinking button appeared on the screen of my wristband, and I pressed it while crossing my fingers, hoping the trick still worked. The sky awoke with an aura of blue light. It zipped across the sky like the northern lights, but more intense. I waited and bit my lip for the finale. Then the sky gave it's last miracle, exploding in a magestic blue flash. The electricity soared farther, expanded more broadly, and it's light was never brighter. They sat back and gazed at the wonderful light show. Antonio, Sydney and Sam were even more amazed. But every good thing has to come to an end. The radiant beams finaly finished and they slithered away, slowly fading as they moved away.

"Wow." Sydney said jaw open

I laughed softly, pleased with myself. Everyone got cozy beneith their sleeping bags. And said their good nights. But not me. I had night watch duty. Everyone moved around abit to get comfy, and then absolute silence. The only sound was the rice krispy popping of the fire. I stared into the cold dark night, makng sure all was normal and than nothing moved. My eyes got heavy, my arms lazy and head sleepy. I started to doze off, but then shook myself awake. My eyes closed again and I convinced myself that I would only be asleep for five minutes.

Images. So many. They flashed in my mind so quick, I couldn't remember one. As hard as I tried I couldn't remember even one. They were there and then gone. I didn't see any, but as they progressed they got darker, and darker. Thoughts flooded my mind. Dark ones. I answered some of the many questions I had, but the answer just led to more questions. Then they stopped and everything was white...no...black...no wait. It had no colour. It was an empty space with an empty purpose. At first I was thankful that the horrifying images had stopped. But then when the time felt best, the emptyness darkened like I was in a theatre. Then a bunch more pictures flooded my mind. But unlike the previous pictures, I knew these ones. My instincts told me that it was somehting I knew well. But then something new happened. They started to slow. As each second of eternity passed, the images slowed. Then it stopped. It was a blurly picture of a face. Then it started to come to focus. A terrible feeling took hold of me. I was slipping away from the dream world. I tried holding onto the dream longer, and tried to make it focus faster. Nothing. I was still slipping away. The image was almost complete. I could tell that the person was male, from the heavy structure of the face. Then when the truth was the closest, I was gone. It was like I was falling. Falling away from the two dimentional person. I clawed at it, desperatly tring to climb up, but there was nothing to grab onto. I watched as the image started to disapeer as I fell into a bottomless pit.
