"They added onto it." Leah said
"How would you now? You don't live here!" Rose said
"I used to."
"Well this is much bigger than our zoo." I said looking at the building
It was an indoor and outdoor zoo. The outside was twice as big as ours and the building was just as big.
"I wonder if the have meerkats?" Blain asked himself
"We're not here to look around! We're here to find some kids."
"Tough luck." Rose said, "I can't see a soul!"
We all entered the building and stood in awe at the magnificent hall. There were carfully decorated, concrete walls leading to a small series of boothes. The room was bigger than three school buses long and two houses tall! It had more space than needed. The decorations coloured the gray floor and walls. The room was circular, with a giant skylight to bring the room to life! There were doorways all around the circle with long hallways behind them. They each had a sign above them giving a description of the types of animals. Birds, African wildlife, North American mammels, Reptiles, Aquarium, and more. There had to be ten or more halls. We walked to the center of the room where there was one of those maze things where you had to wait in line to buy a ticket.
"Hey guys isn't this..." I started
I realized that I was only talking to Rose, the rest of the group had run off, exploring.
"Great!" I sighed sarcastically
"Don't worry, I saw where Blain went." she sasid leading me down a hallway
I ran following her, forgeting to look at the sign. I imagined what room it was. I thought it was the African room where he would tame the lions. We walked along the hall, that had been littered with others belongings. Purses, strollers, and toys were scattered along the floor. Even at the zoo, people were turned into Zombies. We came up to a door that was made of heavy, plastic, strips that were hanging horizontaly. When we walked through my sences were blinded with colour, shape, and smell. We were in a butterfly room, but sure enough, there was Blain sitting in the middle of the room looking at the dazzling creatures.
"Iney, mini, miny, moe!" he said playfully, "Catch a critter by the toe!"
He caught and released them as they fluttered in all directions.
"Come on Blain!"
"You know, I think I had a dream like this once." he said, "I dreamt I was surronded by beautiful moving paintings that danced around me."
"Come along butterfly boy," I said draging him by the back of his shirt collar.
"I totally want a butterfly farm when I grow up!" he said
"And I totally want you to grow up and stop being a big baby!" I said
As we walked out his pugs jumped at the butterflies, trying to catch them in their teeth. I dragged him till my bandaged hands hurt. We walked into the main room, where the rest of the group was waiting.
"Where did you guys go?" Rose asked
"I did a quick browse of the animals and looked for any humans or Grown-Ups." Leah said
"Well I just rangled up myself a pile of longhorns." Antonio said
"What?" I asked
"He was being a cowboy and rounded up cattle or anything with horns." Leah finished for him
"Does the horned animals include elephants?" Rose snorted
"Guys stop! Leah did you find anything?" I asked
"No."
"This was a waste. Blain only suggested it because he loves animals."
"I love animals, some are friendly like pugs and some you eat." Blain said childishly
We all stared at him ackwardly and discusted.
"Wait a second. If this is a zoo and theres animals here then why didn't the Grown-Ups eat them?"
"This is weird." Leah said
All of a sudden our communicators when fuzzy and then Ayden showed up on the screen.
"Attention, all surviors. I'm Ayden Hunt! I have a team that will care for you and you needs. At noon tommoro I will meet everybody at the town hall. Be there!" he said
Static covered the screen and then our communicators went black again.
"Well, at least somebody got their job done." I said
"Wait! We have to make it back before sunset! We can't go back the way we came because there arn't any tall buildings. How are we going to get back in time?" Leah asked
"We will go the long and slow way, if we don't make it intime that's okay. It won't matter too much." I said
Just as I finished something pierced the side of my neck. I grabbed it and pulled it out. It was a small silver canister with a little purple flower on the end. I realized it was a tranquilizer and the world went weird. It was almost like space and time wasn't real. What felt like hours were only seconds as the world moved in slow motion. Colours went bright and the light level went through the roof. Blinding light killed my vision. When I opened my eyes everything started to fade. When I closed my eyes and fell to the ground white filled my head and as time passed it turned to black.
I laid unconcience unable to think, see or feel. I only knew one thing.
This could not end well....
