***Dear reader,
Thank you for choosing to read one of my books! I would like to inform you that I am working on a new series called "The Ledgendary Series". This means that you will have two different choices of books to read. :) This also means that I will be twice as busy. So pardon any delays with the books. Please try the different book series. I hope you enjoy!***
I pushed the double doors open and drew an arrow. The lobby was golden and red. Carpets of bruchures and files covered the floor. The curtains were torn and chairs were tipped over. The work station was abandoned.
"Um. Pardon me, but was the heck was that?" Antonio yelled
"We call them skulls. They are mutated children like you and me, but they posess a great deal of strength and speed. They can most likely kill you in a single blow. One or two have survived their attacks. We have seen about a half dozen of them."
"SIx? You've fought six of these things?!"
"I said about six." I said
He put his hand to his head and inhaled deeply. I went ahead letting the arrow ease back a bit, to rest my aching hands. The rest of the team followed me Blain with a pistol in one hand. Leah had her knives and Rose had her shurikens. The three boys had pistols in hand, not looking one bit nervous.
"Blain?" I whispered
"Yeah?"
"Stay close," I said, "Apparently you are very important to these people. I want you to stay close. I don't want to lose yoou or want you to fall into their hands. Got it?"
He nodded. I heard a sound. Not a loud one, Something very very quiet like a swish of paper or a pin drop. I pulled the arrow back hard and turned to were I thought I heard the noise. I heard and felt the cold, hard metal of a gun press against my head.
"Who is it this time?" I laughed
"It's me." I heard Nathan say
"I knew there was something weird about you." I said
"Don't you try anything funny. Sam and Joshua have Blain. You make a move and he'll have lead right though his head."
I knew he was serious. I put my hands above my head and he took my bow. The team let him take us through some halls. We reached a door at the end of a hall. They pushed us through. They hit me so I fell to my knees. There was a desk with a huge wall of glass behind it. There was a large chair that was faced backwards.
"Feel comfortable?" a voice asked
"Maybe if you would let us go." I said
"Out of the question. I'm going to pay big money for you."
"This whole group would be worth alot." Nathan chuckled, "So what about my payment."
"Your payment?" Joshua asked annoyed, "What about us?"
"Oh, yes I'm sorry. I forgot."
"Gentlemen. There will be no fighting here." the voice said once again
The seat turned around and the figure stood. The sun came heavily through the windows and silloweted them. The boys started to fight once again, but I couldn't hear them. My attention was focused on the dark, figure ahead. I felt something like instinct, it made my stomach churn. I took a few slow steps back. The sun was now completely behind him and I saw his face.
"Johnathan?"
I ran at the door. Not looking back for the team, forgeting my bow and not wanting this to happen. I jumped at the door and tugged it open with all my might. Each second felt like a thousand years, my mind couldn't take it. I opened the door in slow motion. A hooded boy walked towards me. Not having anything to fight with, I put up my fists. The boy slowly took his hands to his hood and slowly pulled it down. My jaw hung, my eyes felt like they would pop out of their sockets.
"Zac?!"
I felt an impact and everything started to fade. It went blurry and black. The last things I saw was my brother's faced before I passed out.
